@rfkenmore Their casual suiting is good and I think their best thing. Hard to find casual suiting in good fabrics with a generous leg opening for RTW prices.

In July 2025, Portland City Council enacted the largest parking fee increase in our city’s history, & raised @lyft & @Uber surcharges to one of the highest municipal fees in the U.S.. Downtown Portland vacancy rates are ~35%! Why is @PortlandGov trying to kill local businesses?

went to go buy a wallet from a local leather worker, raw denim, beard, vintage truck, traditional tattoo, handcrafted, makerspace americana type guy and he spent the whole time talking to me about how lucky we are to live in a time where Shopify is integrated with Quickbooks

I don't totally disagree, but I think guys are more likely to get this wrong than get it right, largely because getting a black dress shirt right requires a lot of attention to fit, silhouette, and material. 🧵
Elizabeth Bingham@SeekJustice117

Paging @dieworkwear : ignoring that his pants rise is too low and I can see his shirt under the jacket button, is he right about the black shirt? My husband doesn’t really do Twitter and is curious (I have often explained about The Menswear Guy). #TikTok tiktok.com/t/ZPRcanBt5/

Sometimes you come across a group of Millennials who are still living fully in the Master of None/Warby Parker era. With their natural wines. These people must be treated gently, like the Japanese soldiers who didn't know World War 2 was over.

wouldnt say it's popular among just conservatives, but men in general. many feel self-conscious in tailoring, so they try to dress it down. but the formality of a tailored jacket can look incongruent with jeans. so it helps to reduce the distance between the two. instead of wearing a suit jacket, wear a textured sport coat (pic 1) instead of wearing a white dress shirt, wear a more casual shirt, such as a long-sleeve polo, light blue oxford button-down, or even a snap-button denim Western (pic 2) instead of oxfords, choose a more casual leather shoe like chukkas or penny loafers (pic 3) instead of wearing a tie, go open collar (pic 4) in this way, you've reduced the formality of the tailoring, so it's less incongruent with denim. it can also help to increase the "formality" of the denim by wearing dark blue jeans or even white jeans, rather than the heavily distressed jeans you see on glenn. lastly, most jeans are too low rise and tight to wear with tailoring. get something that works better with the proportions of a tailored jacket. levis vintage clothing's 1947 501s is a good place to start bc it's slightly higher rise and fuller legged (while not being a wide fit).

@dieworkwear This guy is just a hot model, he'd look good in most anything as most hot people do. Us normies do not look this good in business casual.

Anyway, all this is to say that our notions of what's "traditional" change, and it often does little than approximate the habits of the upper and middle classes. It's surprising to me that something like this can now be considered traditional bc it's just business casual

Something I find interesting here is how many Twitter trads frame business casual as "traditional dress." I suspect many of them are between the ages of 20 and 50, and grew up during a time when most men stopped wearing a coat-and-tie with any regularity. To them, this is trad 🧵

@dieworkwear @truelyesoteric Their financials show they make ~10% Net Income on Revenue. So $5 on $50 shoe. It could be that shoes are more profitable than other parts of their business as they don't only sell shoes and so these numbers applies the whole company's average. Think you might both be right?

@truelyesoteric freight, insurance, and customs are estimated at $5. seems like a small part of the estimation i agree that any graphic is going to be highly generalized, but i assume these are reasonably reflective of avgs bc numbers are in nike's income statements. do you have other data?
