@BobBrake @brettbphoto Depends on the track. Atlanta is doing great. Darlington is still filling up. But Bristol has the disadvantage of location and a terrible Gen 7 car on short tracks.

@Kronos5czc @JonMcK1647 @Joseph62619217 No, you didn't misread. It's the most bizarre conversion testimony that I've ever read -- and utterly void of any mention of soteriology, as if the Reformation was much ado about nothing.

@JonMcK1647 @Joseph62619217 This guy is a serious genius compared to me, but his reasoning boils down to he just believes Aquinas on everything? Maybe I misread that.

@DennyBurk So, nothing at all about justification, salvation, faith, the Gospel...just Thomas Aquinas' logic never failed me? Really? What sort of Protestant would (seemingly) ignore the heart of the Reformation protest? Strangest conversion post I've ever read.

Ryan Hurd has been a reformed theologian and a lecturer at the Davenant Institute. He published an article today explaining why he has converted to Roman Catholicism. Here's the bottom line: "As I became intellectually obliged to follow Thomas wherever he leads me, so withholding my assent became intellectually unjustified–even regarding those contradictions where, initially, I had no reasons for the Catholic part, or even my remaining Protestant doubts. Remarkably, I became obliged to conclude Catholicism, merely because Thomas had told me to do so. And in the end, I listened. And that’s really it. I’m trying here to just be real, rather frank, and to the point." I don't know how else to read this except that his conscience became obliged to Thomas Aquinas. If you don't think the old differences between Protestants and Catholics aren't alive and well, this article will cure you of that. I'll post a link to this astonishing testimony in the thread.

@IVMiles You'd think that Milbank would understand the rather wide gulf between Calvinism and Dispensationalism, albeit admittedly sometimes mixed together, mostly in the boomer generation at the height of the latter's cultural influence, still lingering.

@DrifterDixie @TheFieldOf68 Yea but Keatts went right back to that small ball shit he's done for most his career at State. I never understood that, we play two bigs at the 4 and 5 and win an ACCT and go to Final Four....then the next season he trots Stylez at the 4 and goes right back to small ball

NC State AD Boo Corrigan on Will Wade 👀 "Tuesday night, we talked about everything in the program... I asked him what we needed to be competitive. From there, as far as the resignation, it was an email that we received from his agent." "I'd commiserate with (fans), in terms of feeling lied to. And I'd let them know that I'm as surprised as they are by what's gone on." 🎥: @ABC11_WTVD

@cthocas @ThomasSKidd Same for those who want Bible classes in public schools. You do not want someone with a religious studies degree from a state university teaching the Bible – invariably from a hermeneutic of liberation (critical theory) or historical criticism.

@ThomasSKidd About 15 years ago I went to a cowboy bible study, and the old guys were talking about how we needed to make official school prayer an institution again. I was like, "Guys, you do not want Barack Obama in charge of school prayer."

@John_Barach Kevin Vanhoozer and John Webster, though the latter sadly passed away but left a tremendous body of work. Then I'd say Michael Horton. Then Scott Swain and Michael Allen among those who are younger but already done impressive work.

There's a lot of reprinting of old theology, inc. translations of Reformers and post-Reformation theologians. There are lots of popular-level theologians repackaging theology. But who are the best contemporary *creative* theologians?

@Just4Tweets1986 There's no reason to doubt PSA within a framework that recognizes and celebrates other models. See Stephen Holmes' The Wondrous Cross. Also, John Stott's The Cross of Christ is a classic statement of PSA (and other models) that avoids the distortions.

@scott_fowler As an '05 alum, I remember the glory days. But I don't envy any coach at a non-P4 school in the era of NIL. Charlotte loses all of its best players every season, picked off by P4 schools. Aly Khalifa, Igor Milicic, etc.

New Charlotte AD Kevin White is making a coaching change in men's basketball. Aaron Fearne will not return as head coach for the 49ers. Search for the new coach has begun. The 49ers haven't made the NCAA Tournament since 2005.

@RayceJohnston @NASCARONFOX @bobpockrass Nope. Last season Byron had three poles (Larson had one) and Byron had eleven stage wins (ten for Larson). The 24 was better than the 5 in both categories you listed.

@tyler_austin55 With Michael Allen and Scott Swain, it's the best systematics program in the RTS system and probably the Reformed seminary world more broadly. I would love to see them start a PhD program.

@PastureTheology Bavinck deals rather skillfully with important modern movements (Kant, Schleiermacher, Hegel,...) as someone with confessional Reformed convictions, which is valuable to the pastor today who will invariably encounter these thoughts "downstream" in our culture.

@SteveSkojec @tommithetechie That's dumb. 1982 is the original beginning date for millennials because it refers to the first generation to graduate from high school in the new millennium (2000). So that would include those born in '82 or '81. To simplify things, anyone born in the 80's and early 90's.

@MateyYanakiev @amazon @AmazonHelp I purchased two Vermigli paperbacks from Amazon, and they put both in a single plain yellow envelope, not even a bubble envelope. Unbelievably cheap and lazy. They keep getting worse with shipping books.

I feel so bad for him. All of the holidays and birthdays he will miss out on. Christmas mornings. Summer strolls. Why is this country so obsessed with life sentences? Are you really telling me 3-4 years with some strict counseling and empathy education couldn’t help this man? We just cast him away into a prison without a second thought for his humanity!? Disappointing. Rick

@NateSchlomann Virginia is an amazing, beautiful state with great people. Apart from NOVA and parts of Richmond, it would be an ideal state -- but the power comes from NOVA and Richmond, dictating the entire state. If only Philadelphia had remained our country's capital!

@DarrenColwell Yep. I know at least one Piper devotee from RTS who burned out and left ministry within five or so years. Dramatic conversion at college via RUF, Piper sermons on his phone, Crossway books everywhere...great guy but super typical of average RTS student a decade ago.

Hot take: Driscoll, Piper, & Platt got a lot of guys into ministry that needed to slow down. This burned those guys and a lot of churches. Now young men run from ministry because of the terrible example they’ve been set. Pietistic ministry models burned out an entire generation
