Drake's amended complaint reveals that it was Interscope Records Executive VP and Head of Digital Marketing Ramon Alvarez-Smikle who directed the alleged "whitelisting" of Not Like Us. UMG temporarily removed copyright restrictions on Youtube and Twitch allowing anyone to use Not Like Us in videos without receiving copyright strikes. This incentivized content creators to "react" to the song, boosting its popularity and quickly spreading its defamatory lyrics. Less than 24 hours after Not Like Us' release, popular streamer YourRAGE expressed his gratitude that the copyright removal allowed him to be paid. He further commented that the copyright removal was automatically done rather than at his request. Another popular streamer ImDontai, who also reacted to Not Like Us, recently commented that YourRage's post is how he found out about the copyright removal. The complaint alleges that UMG has a strict policy against "whitelisting" and this was the first time in the company's history where UMG removed copyright restrictions from a song.
