PerfectGame is one of the top branding and marketing companies in the world. They’ve successfully convinced an entire generation of baseball players and families that they are in fact a baseball organization I admire their driving forces business wise, they’re genius For baseball players though, and this is strictly in terms of a player development perspective, they are the worst thing to ever happen to youth player development

Just keep doing this. Leave all that negativity and argumentative BS at the door. This is actually helpful!

Hitting has changed tremendously in the @MLB Hitters from the past rolled their Top Hand after contact and today’s players try to avoid doing that. Today’s hitters struggle on the High Fastball because of this! Hitter’s of the past were taught to either get on top of it or don’t swing at it. #shegone @notgaetti @BobFile @twuench @billdubs @SliderDominate @slider_sinker @iamrags @ROXSystem @BLocsports @wilpujols @artofhitting @CRAIG_LAPINER @hittingguru7 @TheRealJHair @DMEASrecruiting @WillClark22 @GDBJr5 @RealCJ10 @mikepiazza31 @MLBNetwork

Posts like these are a perfect example of a hasty generalization. A single case of a gifted pitcher who never benched gets turned into a global claim about what baseball players should never do. Bench press is a tool. It can help many athletes develop qualities that transfer into durability and power. Whether it belongs in your program depends on your needs, not on what one phenom could skip. Build what your body needs, not what an outlier didn’t.
Alex Feinberg@Alexfeinberg

On my first day as a Freshman with the Vandy Baseball team, everyone's shirt was off, our body fat was tested along with a couple lifts I repped 185 lbs on bench press 19x, tied for the team lead One guy couldn't even get 1 rep. His name was David Price. He went on to be picked #1 in the 2007 draft and made over $200M in 14 MLB seasons Barbell bench press is not a lift baseball players need to do

Ya'll remember this @CoachLisle It's even more relevant in 2025. Post a clip and all the random hitting experts shwo up: “Her elbow’s too high.” “He needs to stride bigger.” “She’s dropping her hands.” “He needs to rotate more.” Players — let me give you something real: If Mike Trout can post a swing online and random people try to “fix” him…they’re definitely going to try to fix you. And that’s exactly why you can’t take every comment, every opinion, or every cue from the internet and let it mess with your head or your swing. Not everyone giving advice is qualified to give advice. You do NOT need to change your swing every time someone speaks up. Some people mean well, but meaning well doesn’t equal knowing what they’re talking about. A lot of comments come from people who don’t train hitters, don’t study the swing, and don’t understand your development plan.

Just curious #shegone nation. Did the #1Knee🗑️ catching style have anything to do with these 4 passed balls? @notgaetti @BobFile @twuench @billdubs @SliderDominate @slider_sinker @iamrags @ROXSystem @BLocsports @WesClements22 @CRAIG_LAPINER @hittingguru7 @AMBS_Kernan

The Problem w/ extension drills !!! Too many hitters try to “muscle” the swing. They squeeze the bat, fight the barrel, and kill all the natural whip that creates real power. The best hitters don’t force the barrel — they release it. Loose hands allow the barrel to move freely and naturally through the zone. It doesn’t mean lazy or sloppy. It means relaxed enough to let your body’s sequence — not tension — deliver the barrel. Think: smooth → quick → explosive. When your hands are loose, your forearms and wrists stay live. That’s where the “Power V” starts to form — the natural extension of your hands and barrel after contact. This in many other Hiting tips can be found. In the Summers Method App
