Fertilizers are often used in yards. However, when fertilizer gets into runoff and enters waterways, this can cause algae bloom to form and dissolved oxygen to decrease. This is bad for aquatic organisms, so don’t use fertilizer when you don’t have to! @franklinlorax #apeswater

The small lake by my house is surrounded with this rip-rap that prevents erosion of the sediment underneath it. This is a great way to minimize the amount of suspended solids in the lake that can clog fish gills and decrease the aquatic population. @franklinlorax #apeswater

The average person uses roughly 17 gallons of water each time they shower. A good way to save water would be to take shorter showers or turn off the water while washing your hair or body! If you use water just when it’s necessary, it will help the environment more than you think!

I use the same water bottle everyday instead of using plastic water bottles that get thrown away and I also use reusable straws instead of plastic ones as well to do my part in helping the environment. #apesintro @franklinlorax
