Only 34% of software projects are considered "successful". It doesn't have to be like that. If you want to beat the odds, check out our FREE handbook on "Beating the Odds of Software Project Failure". eno8.com/software-proje…

Two people in our office are finishing custom software that will be the backbone our entire company. Two years ago this would have cost $1M+ and a year of dealing with outside software developers. We are building it in a few months with VSCode and AI. Operating apartments is not hard. What is hard is making a hundred people share the same data and do the right thing at the right time. That coordination is the whole game in vertical integration. We invest, develop, build, and manage Texas apartments. Four functions under one roof. Most operators outsource three of the four. The advantage of doing all four shows up only when the four sides share data in real time. Without that, vertical integration is just four separate companies under the same name. So we needed software that tied the four sides together. No SaaS product exists for it. Every SaaS tool we run is a silo. ResMan tracks leases. Procore tracks construction. Sage Intacct tracks the books. LoanBoss tracks the debt. Juniper Square holds investor relationships. ADP holds the people. None of them talk to each other. None of them know about the investment memo or the business plan. So we built the system that fixes it. APIs pull data from every SaaS tool above. The data lands in a blob. The blob fills the operating system. Every employee gets a unique login, a custom dashboard, and a task list pulled from live property data. The MVP ships with eleven modules. Phase two adds eight more. It tracks every vendor, contract, and renewal date. Every loan with rate, term, prepayment penalty, and DSCR test. Every entity with EIN, FinCEN filings, and CPA deadlines. Every insurance policy with coverage, deductibles, and claims. The original investment memo on every deal with every deviation logged. Portfolio rollups from the property level. Investor reports generated in one click. The maintenance supervisor in Houston sees his open work orders next to vendor performance scores and the punch list on his renovation. The CFO sees cash position next to debt maturities and every lender covenant. The partnerships team sees commitments, distributions, and K-1 status across every fund and entity. Same data. Different views. Permissions scoped to the role. There is also an AI assistant inside the system. Every employee can ask it questions in plain English. It answers only from data the employee is allowed to see. A loan covenant gets close. The system flags it before the bank does. A vendor underperforms. The renewal alert says do not renew. An investor asks for last quarter's distribution. The answer takes ten seconds. The business plan slips by five percent. The variance report writes itself. Two years ago I emailed a buddy with this dream and we realized it wasn't anywhere near in budget. So I sat on it. A few months ago I handed the vision to my business partner. He taught himself how to build it with AI. He is almost done. We did not build this to show off the technology. We built it because you cannot be the best at investment, development, construction, and property management at the same time without a system that ties them together. The dream every small business operator has is buildable now. For us, it is what turns four functions into one company.

@nateliason Hey @nateliason how have you addressed the tendency for OpenClaw to become unreliable in executing defined policies as you accumulate capabilities?

Had a parent-teacher conference this morning My wife told me not to come I came anyway She said "please just listen and nod" I said "I always listen" She said "you listen like you're sitting in a boardroom looking for something to challenge" That's how listening works Nice classroom Small chairs I am 6'4" and was seated at a desk designed for someone who still believes in Santa Claus My knees touched my chest The teacher introduced herself Shared her identified pronouns I shared my identified adjectives Smart and handsome My wife closed her eyes The teacher had a folder Color-coded tabs I respected the organization She said our son is "a pleasure to have in class" My wife smiled I waited That sentence is never the whole report It's the executive summary before the risk section She said "however" There it is She said he "asks a lot of questions" I said "good" She said "during quiet time" I said "when is quiet time?" She said "it's when students are expected to work independently and in silence" I said "so he's the only one trying to get information and you've structured the environment to prevent it?" My wife put her hand on my arm I continued The teacher said he recently told another student that "sharing pencils doesn't make sense if nobody brings their own" I said "that's an accurate observation" My wife squeezed harder The teacher said she's concerned about his "resistance to group activities" I said "he's not resistant. He just doesn't see the value of doing more work for the same grade." The teacher said he also corrected her math on the whiteboard I said "was he right?" She paused She said "that's not the point" I said "it's a little bit the point" My wife stood up Sat back down Compromise The teacher pulled out an evaluation sheet Categories like "works well with others" and "follows directions" and "respects classroom norms" All subjective Not a number on the page I asked how these are graded She said "based on observation" I said "so one person's opinion with no second review?" She said "it's professional judgment" I said "my auditors say that too. Right before I disagree with them." She looked at my wife My wife said "I'm sorry about him" I said "I'm sitting right here" My wife said "I know" The teacher said overall he's a bright kid and she just wants to make sure he learns to "collaborate" I said "collaboration is important. But so is recognizing when you're the only one doing the work. He'll learn that again in college. And again in the real world. Might as well start now." Nobody spoke The teacher closed her folder She said "I think we've covered everything" I said "one more thing" She braced herself I said "his reading is above grade level. His math is strong. He asks hard questions and corrects mistakes when he sees them. I just want to make sure this school knows what it has." The teacher looked at me differently My wife looked at me differently I said "that's all" We left In the car my wife was quiet Then she said "he's turning into you" I said "is that a good thing?" She didn't answer From the backseat he said "dad, why does the teacher count off for asking questions? Isn't that the whole point of school?" I looked at my wife She looked out the window I said "yes. It is." He said "I don't think she likes when I'm right" I didn't say anything Neither did my wife Small chairs Color-coded tabs No follow-up items But the kid's going to be fine Sent from my iPhone

Big pharma convinced people that ‘chemical imbalances’ were a thing so that they could create lifetime consumers of pharmacological drugs & convince the masses that they don’t have control over their own minds. The vast majority of what we call mental health issues are just normal responses to various stressors in life that would be better resolved with exercise, healthful foods & hydration, financial stability, supportive relationships & overall stress reduction.

@nethornk @donwinslow I guess I’m confused. If they were here in the country and had legally entered through a port of entry requesting asylum, and then was approved to stay here while going through the legally approved process, why would ICE be arresting him?

@ENO8Jeff @donwinslow Only context i need is they are brutalizing people including children. He was there for an asylum hearing. He is not a criminal. Even if he weren't there legally idc you don't treat people like that.

@lcparker02 @donwinslow The person in the video seems to be resisting arrest from what I can tell. Wouldn’t it be best to just not resist a law enforcement officer doing their job?

Good intentions aren't enough. Motivation fades. Willpower runs out. If it was as simple as WANTING IT, everyone would be FIT, RICH, DISCIPLINED, & WINNING. You need a SYSTEM! I created a 30-day framework to become the man my family needed. The result? Hundreds of men transformed their lives!! Just now: Woman protesting outside Broadview ICE facility is shot repeatedly with sting balls, thrown to the ground, and ultimately maced point blank in the face as she attempts to block ICE agents from leaving the facility in a vehicle.
