@memphisunited I tell mine from day 1 that I don't have any favorites except Captains... And goalies... And the Diamond (defenders)... And freshmen... And shooters... But for real...it's the goalies. We all know it.

Every coach has their favorite players. It’s human nature. Great coaches keep every player engaged and feeling part of the team. That’s a leader’s nature.

If @IowaMed and their Neuro dept could go ahead and swipe right on my Dad that'd be great. It's only been SIX days sitting in St Luke's ER. Feel free to message me if you care for his name and other details. Or call St Luke's and ask for "guy who's been there forever".
CoachEODixon@EODixon

@IowaMed @uihealthcare I would but... we aren't patients. Which is sorta the problem, soooo...feel free to fix that little issue then I'd be more than happy to call whomever.

I swear to heck... If I have to talk to one more mom about their kid's experience in public school versus what I'm doing with my kid via homeschool I swear I'll be so happy because we both want what's best for our kids and moms helping other moms "mom" is so awesome!

@CoachBOtis In the past we've tracked Chances Created as well as Chances Denied. So not just Shots vs Saves, but was there a chance created by that string of passes? Or did a defender step into a tackle at the midline to deny an opponents chance to score before it even started?

Opinion: I noticed that hyper-focusing on game day results has taken some of the joy out of coaching for me. Not saying results don’t matter OR that I’m not a competitive person (I am). I’d just like to find other metrics of success so that I can reignite my passion💡

The amount of comments agreeing to this is so infuriating! Baseball charges so much, how about you use the money to purchase extra equipment. I have extra GK gloves, shinguards, balls and jerseys in my car in case.
Trosky@NateTrosky

Infielders, win the day the night before! Prior to going to bed, pick-out your uni & check your bag for all your equipment. Showing up to any practice unprepared is “No Bueno,” especially if you consider yourself a next level player. Little things make BIG things happen! CEO/6TN

@_BecomeYou @coach_swalwell_ Or the more passive-aggressive style of subbing a player out, glaring at them as they come in, then ignoring them the rest of the game. They hear that message loud and clear: "I only like you as a person when you benefit me as a coach. When you don't, you're useless."

Coaches, please don't criticize mistakes from youth players. Even at the highest level this is still the development phase. If professionals make mistakes, so will youth players. Be ok with it and use it as a learning experience
Michael Langlois@ProspectComm

Young, hard-working players will make "mistakes"- lots of them. It’s inevitable. Good youth coaches understand that kids need to try things- and sometimes fail. So they teach, explain, demonstrate, reinforce. They always keep building confidence- and then let their players play.

@bradrathbone @EarthyLilly Sure. Why not? My kid is 6 and we hs primarily so we're free to travel as we want. (Lots of family back east.) But also so we can spend a 30-45 on LAs, then an hour on math, and the rest of the day on science. She's deep into animals and maths, so we do what she's into.

@EarthyLilly Curious question (for anyone) but is homeschooling to save time so my kids can do other stuff longer (surf, nature, art ect) a realistic thought?

Most of my friends who were homeschooled are deliberately not homeschooling their own children. I think that says something.

@CoachNoskowiak You and I can start a support group. Just finished a 4in5 week with two 3in5s coming. In the last week I've gone from 18 healthy to 8 healthy, 2 out, and 10 day to day. They're all beat up in general, but the combo of overuse plus crappy fields is taking its toll.

@KamieCrawford is clearly the funnier one, but these older episodes show just how hard @maxjoseph came down on people and their stupidness. Nev's eyebrows say what he thinking, but Max just leveled hard truth of folks!

@IAHSSCA Did I really just read an email saying that no games played on 1 May or later will count towards the post-season pairings? I get that you have to have a cutoff for the sake of planning, but cmon...most teams still have another 5+ games 1-13 May.

@JPaulNorton @SkyeJethani Kinda. More like how he (or the translation) places punctuation changes the passage bc it changes what the reader emphasizes. I'm no Bible expert, but preaching that the "" themselves change a verse to mean something other than what it says w/o the ""s seems super sketchy to me.

@EODixon @SkyeJethani If I understand your example, the claim you are making is that there are passages that change based on someone being quoted as saying it, correct?

1/There's a huge difference between the authority of the Bible & the authority of my interpretation of the Bible. Why this distinction is so difficult for some Christians to grasp is a mystery to me. It’s no more controversial than admitting that God is perfect but I am not.

@EODixon @Challenger_ST Really your district scheduled 4 varsity highschool games in 5 days? What state do you live in? I could see if it was club at a tourney but league games scheduled that closely is ridiculous.

@danny_audionerd @Challenger_ST 3 / 5 is pretty common in Iowa, but 4 / 5 is bc our 1st 3 wks was snow and storms & they rescheduled. We get about 6 weeks of game dates for up to 17 games, BUT no one plays on Wed/Sun and there's no refs on Saturdays. So...Bout 24 dates for 17 games, then...weather.
