@BriannaWu I find it helpful for people with non-traditional names or ambiguous name - Pat. I think some people do it as allyship with people who have names that are bot automatically associated with a gender. I had an awkward email interaction with a woman named Dale.

I know you’re not supposed to say this, but I think announcing your pronouns is the stupidest idea in history. If you have to tell people you are the thing you’re not the thing. I hate this idea because it’s setting trans people up for failure. Rather than take personal responsibility for your gender presentation you yell at people for not intuiting it.
