Inspired by the likes of @jeremylion I have dedicated far too much time to producing this 'very helpful' exam paper for all those homeschooling at the minute. Ideal for testing your exam skills, or examining your test skills. You may turn over your papers now.

@sarajcox Entries included an interactive sculpture called Snowden's Breach and a "bold and striking" 5ft tall face called 'I'm (not) okay' which explored topics of depression and loneliness through the medium of poster paint.

@sarajcox Friends and I created a fictional artist (Godfrey Barclay), picked a category unlikely to have competition , and entered increasingly extravagant art pieces into the village show - starting no more than 12 hours before the submission deadline. 3 years, 3 wins.

@Eurail Oh, I know - we did our family holiday (5 of us, 18 months to 60 years old) by InterRail last year - Utrecht, Munich, Berlin and home - there's no better way to travel.

@EdHitchon Great to know the timetable works fine in the UK! There are many ways to go to Berlin from the UK, give it a chance!

I'm on the rails in the UK and the InterRail app is the most useful/user friendly journey planner. Of course the downside is that I keep getting tempted to go to Berlin - but that's the risk I have to take to know what connections I need to make from a train I am already on.

Total lack of ambition. In the early 90s my cousin took a twin tub washing machine from York to Preston by train, but in 2023 you can't even take a sink.

@sarajcox Leaning against/in a hedge, having fallen asleep whilst riding my bike back from a 48 hour study session at university. I have a recollection of leaving the path and the hedge coming towards me through the dark - then waking up in the early morning light having accepted my fate.

@BCCletts @1trackmindrail @GarethDennis There's platform humps to deliver level access to some doors. Unfortunately if you use it to board, once you leave the core your exit is down to chance. East Croydon is atrocious, I very nearly ended up down the gap as the brakes clicked on when the pushchair hit the platform.

@sd_1874 @GJMarshy These commuter towns and suburbs already have rail links into their respective local economic centres - the problem that HS2 set out to solve is removing all the high speed intercity services from them to allow them to revert to their original low speed shorter distance purpose.

I present: "CAMBASLYAN" Cheshire & Manchester, Birmingham & Staffordshire, Liverpool, Yorkshire & Nottinghamshire The 2nd highest population density within a 100km radius in Europe. Only London pips it at 22,144,000. Connected this area could be an #Economic giant. #UK #Maps

@mdw1989 It was the second proper stop on our family InterRail holiday this summer, it was absolutely sweltering but everyone loved it - impressive given our party ranged in age from 20 months to 59 years! It was my first time back in nearly a decade, but just as lovely as I remembered.

@EdHitchon That’s very true! I’ve not been here since pre pandemic (and am only really passing through today - must come back for another proper visit!) but it’s certainly lost none of its charm. Some of the Christmas decorations are still up in Hbf giving it added sparkle too!

@battledroid_ @PaliparanDotCom That appears to be booking a double room for one though. Still on the expensive side - but not much more than the "standard" when I have booked before. The key has always been Sparpreis or InterRail.

The new Nightjet prices: €600 for a single sleeper Vienna-Hamburg on a random off-peak date in winter. For the same amount of money you can fly business class with Austrian & stay at the 5* Fairmont Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten on the Inner Alster Lake in the heart of the city. Mad!

@GarethDennis One of the best starter cars in Gran Turismo (2 and 4), and my preference on Colin McRae Rally (over the scooby, although the 206 will always win for me) - but a bit too drug dealery in real life. Might have to install Colin McRae 2005 again now, just to check.

@calmac2099 @DavidHorne @LNER I'm not an expert on the finer points of BSL, but I understand that for people for whom BSL is their first language written English can be difficult to process. The sentence structure is very different, for example, and that can make reading under pressure harder.

@DavidHorne @LNER Forgive my ignorance but why, if you can see the screen, see the writing on the screen, do you need someone to "sign" it ?

We’ve introduced British Sign Language onto our Customer Information Screens at Doncaster station to provide our D/deaf passengers with up to date travel information in BSL. If this trial is successful, we plan to roll out to @LNER’s other stations. (The video👇 has only background sound)

@GarethDennis Dunkirk (1958, £400k) is the best Dunkirk. I am slightly too drunk to give any coherent reasoning beyond "I fancy 1958 John Mills more than 2017 Harry Styles", but also something about the actual army being involved in the making of it, and it's a ripping film.

so I think a lot about how Atonement (2007, budget $30M) created a better Dunkirk than Dunkirk (2017, $150M)
