68022 and CH02 are the first of the @chilternrailway Mk 5A sets and locos to enter traffic. The new era began with the 08.15 Birmingham Moor Street to London Marylebone this morning. The first Chiltern Mk 3 set was sent for store at Burton yesterday.

This 1,000-ft Knightsbridge tunnel was shut down for over 6 months, all to turn it into one lane and install a few ventilation fans. It cost taxpayers whooping £8 million And what did that closure create? 🚗 Unnecessary congestion 🌫️ Even more air pollution 💷 Millions wasted There was no real need for this work. It looks more like yet another project designed to funnel contracts to favoured companies and line pockets through kickbacks, while Londoners suffer on the roads every single day. We pay the price they cash the cheques. @TfL @MayorofLondon Explain this. Where is £8 million gone? Why was a simple tunnel project dragged out for half a year?

NR has released a cost estimate for Stalybridge-Diggle Transpennine Route Upgrade of £225 million. Just over 7 miles but 10 listed structures. Bill has £109m for electricals (including OLE), £67m for tunnels, bridges and civils, £18m for buildings including new Moseley station.

As @AlstomUK @SW_Help Class 701s continue, slowly, entering traffic, so the number stored at MoD Bicester drops. 701040 has been moved to Wimbledon today, leaving 701009/027/054 there plus quite a few 5-car sets.
