Everyone is talking about EVs in Africa. Very few are actually building them here. The Middle East and Africa EV market is projected to grow from $5 billion this year to over $20 billion by 2031. The UAE alone is the fastest-growing regional market, with a national target of 50% EV adoption by 2050 and over 1,270 public charging points already live in Dubai. Saudi Arabia wants 30% of Riyadh's vehicles electric by 2030. Morocco is targeting 100,000 EV units and 2,500 public chargers by this year. The capital, the infrastructure, and the policy frameworks are all moving in one direction. But here is the question nobody is asking: where are the African manufacturers in this conversation? Because right now, the continent's EV future is being written by importers. Vehicles designed in Shenzhen, shipped through Dubai, and sold into Lagos and Nairobi. Africa is the customer. Never the builder. Scooter and Amani Mobility exists to change that sentence. The UAE is not just a market for us. It is a strategic corridor. A bridge between African manufacturing capability and Gulf capital, infrastructure expertise, and continental distribution networks. The smart play for African EV manufacturers is not to compete with the UAE. It is to partner with it. South Africa has the automotive manufacturing DNA. The UAE has the capital deployment infrastructure and the appetite for clean mobility at scale. The intersection of those two things is where the next generation of African industrialisation lives. We are not waiting for someone to invite us to the table. We built the table. Now we are expanding it. More to share soon.
