So, yours truly was RIGHT AGAIN. I think I know what's wrong with FSR/RR in Crimson Desert.
This image is a 300% zoom (similar to @digitalfoundry video that first observed this issue), but open it in a big monitor if possible. Notice the very low-res appearance, no AA. 🧵

This big-zoom for example shows advantages of both DLSS and FSR (DLSS wins in avg), more important, shows zero conflict between FSR/RR and upscaling. With same 4K/Performance preset. What they saw in Crimson Desert is *extremely* abnormal. /

Context is important too. It puts additional levers into the artists' hands. Whether or not those tools get abused is another matter altogether since evidently this runs the risk of AI Slop being pushed even more broadly into games.

hasan tried to imply in this conversation that if people see his full coverage, they come away with a more balanced view of reality, as opposed to "out of context clips". the exact opposite is true, long term viewers of his are radicalized by the exact rhetoric adam pointed out in this clip

We have to get Donald Trump out of the way so we can run against JD Vance. He's so beatable. He just gives these speeches that have this aura of authoritarianism. He would be a lot easier to beat than Donald Trump. Donald Trump is a dementia ridden tyrant who should be put in prison and given the death penalty for his crimes against America, but JD Vance has something about him where people say 'I don't want this crazy person running the country'.

So while one can claim DLSS4 is "sharper" than FSR4, DLSS4 is NOT resolving any higher frequency detail, it is all the same edges, just DLSS4 tightens up the edge contrast on the same edges more than FSR4 does

Quick guess on FSR4 runtime costs: 4K performance mode adding roughly 0.63ms/frame over FSR3.1. So maybe 1.43 ms/frame total (up to 1.8x the cost of FSR3.1's runtime).
