@E_Essendonyt I feel like it was a mistake not opening a 2nd list spot. I understand leaving Caldwell out he’s a senior player, but Johnson’s gonna be out 10+ weeks 12 all up it’s already been 2 since the injury. Could’ve had Herbert or NHH as well as Artemis or Griffin. Rebuild may ass.

@Tommy_Wolfe7 They should’ve taken NHH during the SSP and just moved on from Setters I understand they made a promise to Setters, but they could’ve givin him a spot in the VFL. He still would’ve got paid! Then again NHH tried out for a SSP spot on Freo’s list and they didn’t give it to him.

@EgotisticUser I know what you mean. Without knowing the internal details and timelines, the injury list makes it feel like getting another free hit or two wouldn’t be a bad thing. Would love a second pick to take a chance on Hibbins-Hargreaves.

Without looking at topping up list needs for specific clubs, players I’d be keen to take in the mid season draft are: Herbert Hibbins-Hargreaves Artemis Bamert Kelly Griffin Starapoli Annand Oudshoorn-Bennier Hagan Toner

@Tommy_Wolfe7 Could’ve got Herbert and NHH or Starapoli as well as Artemis. I like Artemis, but Griffin could be the better pick dons have a younger list build! They both fit either would be great I honestly like Toner to! My indecision is probably why I want them to open a 2nd list spot.

I wouldn’t say I am rooting for (Richmond), getting an opportunity on any list is a good opportunity but maybe I had a little pull because they have done more work on me but right now I don’t know.”

@RalphyHeraldSun Such a shortsighted view by Essendon. This season is done. There’s little point giving Johnson a chance of playing a few more games this year, at the cost of picking up another player. Using our second pick on a ruck would be handy, you would think.

Essendon still only plans to use one pick in the mid season draft. They want to give Zak Johnson (foot) a chance to come back this year and Wright is only 6-8 weeks away. But primary school teaching assistant Artemis might have to park his job. Should be playing senior AFL footy in coming weeks. Here is why 👇

If Merrett again requests a trade, is GWS a candidate? In 2023 they finished 7th, top 4 a year later & 5th in 2025. They’ve had some wretched luck with injuries this campaign, but at full strength it’s still a formidable outfit. Complement that with two of his best mates in Laverde & Stringer already there - could GWS throw its hat into the ring?
