Happy 250th Birthday to the United States of America! 🇺🇸 Today, we celebrate the enduring promise of a nation founded over 200 years ago on the ideals of liberty, freedom, and equality. We also recognize the generations of Americans who have worked to bring those founding principles closer to reality. May we continue striving to build a stronger, more united nation worthy of the vision that began on July 4, 1776.

Happy 250th Birthday, America! 🇺🇸 Two and a half centuries ago, our nation was founded on a bold promise: democracy, freedom, and equal justice under the law. As we celebrate our independence, we honor that legacy by reflecting on the responsibility it carries – which is to defend the values that define America, especially when they are tested, and to renew our commitment to the ideals that unite us and move our nation forward.

Today, justice prevailed. The U.S. Supreme Court upheld birthright citizenship — rejecting Donald Trump’s unconstitutional attack on our immigrant communities. If you are born in this country, you are an American. Full stop. California has always stood for that truth, and we always will.

Congratulations to my number one “s-hero” @SpeakerPelosi on this incredible opportunity to continue her legacy of fighting for our democracy. In partnership with @UCBerkeley, this new institute will help strengthen American democracy, inspire the next generation of leaders, and advance solutions to our most pressing political challenges.

To all the dads out there – and those who serve as father figures – I hope you are celebrated today for all you do! And especially to my husband, Markos, who is a wonderful father to our two sons and my own remarkable dad. Happy Father’s Day!

As the former U.S. Ambassador to Hungary during President Obama’s administration, it was inspiring to hear his moving speech about democracy and how coming together on our shared values and responsibilities as citizens helps move us forward as a civil society. We the People are the driving force of this great country and its functioning democracy.

Today is Election Day, California! From my two decades delivering housing to middle class families, serving as President Obama’s Ambassador overseas to nearly 8 years as Lt. Governor, I have the experience and proven record necessary to serve as a Treasurer Californians can trust. If you haven't already, head to the polls, and make your voices heard because today is the last day to vote in person or return a ballot by 8PM.
