Which would you choose if you could only keep one year-round?
(1) Standard Time (more daylight in the morning, earlier sunsets)
(2) Daylight Saving Time (darker mornings, more daylight in the evening)

@MarkDavis You say that, but if the clock is shifted forward an hour, it means our lives are shifted forward an hour.
The shifting of the clock has serious, measurable impacts on our well- being.

This has become so silly. The clock itself is a completely human concoction. Sunrise and sunset are from God. The clock is from us. It can be whatever we wish it to be. (I like DST— no more darkness at 6:15 pm)

I’d rather change clocks twice a year (as dumb as that is), than permanently be set on a time zone contrary to nature. Standard Time All The Time

The science strongly supports ending the twice-yearly clock changes.
Where the debate begins is which time should be permanent.
Most sleep and circadian experts favor permanent standard time, not permanent daylight saving time, because morning light is the strongest cue for aligning our biological clocks.
As @hubermanlab has noted, we often confuse what feels good (later sunsets) with what is biologically optimal (earlier morning light).

The man who built the foundation for the Democratic Socialists of America would be sick to his stomach if he saw them today. This is the history they didn't teach you in school. The intellectual father of this movement, Michael Harrington, wasn’t just a socialist; he was a ferocious, unapologetic anti-communist.
He even called the Soviet Union a prison and knew that if you let communists into a movement, they won't collaborate—they will devour you from the inside out. Harrington spent his life building a wall to keep the radicals out. But the DSA officially tore down Harrington's wall. They willingly removed the guardrails against the very forces he fought against. If Michael Harrington were alive today, he wouldn't just be pissed—he would completely disavow the entire organization.

ICE Harlingen just set a new record in the Rio Grande Valley with over 238 illegal alien arrests in a SINGLE DAY.
Among those arrested are convicted criminals, who committed crimes such as kidnapping, sexual battery, drug possession, DUI, theft, and much more.
These are the people that Democrats want to import into your neighborhoods.

I hope the Senate has more sense, and some staff who do research.
Congress tried this in 1974. People hated it. Kids were killed in the morning dark. It was such an utter failure, it had to be repealed about 10 months later.

The U.S. House passed H.R. 139 by a 308-117 vote to make daylight saving time permanent nationwide, ending twice-yearly clock changes, with strong Republican support and significant Democratic backing.
President Trump endorsed the Sunshine Protection Act, which advances after committee approval earlier in 2026 and now requires Senate action for potential nationwide implementation.
I’m all for it! Think of the ease when you do business across time zones or when you fly!

Permanent DST time will also help reduce crime. A Brookings Institution study showed that robberies decreased by 27% because of DST. According to a Stanford University study, year-round DST saves $550 million a year in costs of criminal activity. brookings.edu/articles/fight…
