@DrReality5 Capitalism requires redistribution to survive: it sustains demand, insures workers against market risk & restrains the inequality capitalism itself generates. The "nanny state" is not an attack on property, but a response to the instability of private accumulation.

Because most Americans don't study economics, they conflate 'socialism' with the nanny state. While socialism and the nanny state often operate concurrently, they are completely distinct from one another. Because most Americans do not know the formal economic definition of socialism, when they say they oppose socialism, they usually mean they oppose the nanny state. (They can't oppose socialism if they don't know its true definition, though they might if they did.) A simple-to-understand definition of 'nanny state' is that the government takes property from party A for the purpose of giving it to party B. It is the taking of Joe's property because politicians have decided that Bob has a greater need of it than Joe. The core principle of the nanny state is that you can only keep that property the government believes you should have. Phrased another way, the nanny state cannot exist unless owning property is a privilege, not a right. Once that notion is acceded to, the only determining factor of how much or how little property you are allowed to possess is a vote of the legislature. There may be many government ills in America, but in my opinion, the nanny state is the one that must be ended most urgently if we are to retain our right of property, which is the foundation of all other rights. @EireNua1 The relevant issue is the elasticity of taxable income: how much behaviour actually changes when marginal rates rise. Taxes may reduce effort at the margin, but public investment can raise productivity, while taxing rent & monopoly profit need not deter genuine entrepreneurship.

All this talk from the Socialist 'economists' lately about taxation reveals their complete lack of understanding about entrepreneurship and incentives. If you are more productive and create more wealth, ie your businesses are creating more jobs, and are contributing more and more to the economy (not to the state) then these people believe you should be penalised and be actually taxed more. This almost kills the desire to keep building, and providing more opportunity, and economic activity. If the more you created, and produced, the better you were rewarded - shock horror - you would be incentivised to create, and produce, more. If you are taxed to the hilt you either will not bother, and/or simply find ways to park the newly created wealth, rather than using it to continue to create more and more. The truth is that we are plundering the most successful people in our economies in order to grow an ever wasteful state, which relies on gullible welfare recipients believing that those that are providing are actually the problem. The state, and its useful idiot minions - particularly the 'socialist-economists' among them - are the problem.

Only those importing labor from them benefit _____ 6 Asume equal health services for all affecting costs and qualities in a country generating low GDP —— 7. The cost of housing might be lower but get deteriorated soon because people lacking funds for restoration. —— 8. The lack of competition paralyze the producing of better technology In conclusion: It might work in small communities with low resources but doesn’t work in large cities/countries
