Every attending does things differently, and that's really annoying. Every time you're told to do something a new way though, take notes in your mind of what YOUR style will be when you're done.

I'm reposting this again because it's so important as a trainee, attendings with different styles can be frustrating (you just learned one style and want to do that!) but learning diverse approaches to a single problem will serve you well later on, by teaching flexibility

EM PS writing tip: I realize ER/ED/EM docs are commonly used phrases, but try to standardize your PS correctly. ED is term for the location we work in (not ER). EM is the specialty. For instance, we are EM physicians, not ED physicians. And ER is an outdated term from 30 years ago.

Brief 🧵on what to do when you lose the 'flash' when placing a central line. Here we see the resident getting into the vein and seeing the satisfying 'flash' of blood that we're looking for. But as we all know, things don't always go smoothly from there... (1 )

Similar to a prior 🧵regarding traumatic deaths in 'The Iliad': Here I will examine the deaths in the movie 'Braveheart' to estimate how many of these might have been prevented if modern level 1 trauma centers and surgical care were available in Scotland at the time. (1/)
