Make sure that's true. When my baby was in the NICU I was in the ICU and physically couldn't visit. We were 2 hours from home so my husband was bouncing between me, the baby, and our 3 older kids. Unfortunately our baby had very little visitors the first week of his life. Still makes me sad to think about it but thankfully his nurses were understanding and amazing. There were other babies whose families were even further away and because of work and other kids their parents struggled to come. That's why they have snuggle volunteers.

@charles_haig01 I’m not 100% if they reported it, or if they gave it to a third party who did, but I knew categorically the allegation they were investigating I’d only told one reporter.

So I’m going to post all the funniest parts about getting raided by the NACC but before I do, caveat, they were actually very cool guys and having dealt with the ICAC in the past on equally spurious investigations, the NACC model is definitely the better one.

@JessHealyWalton Hope journos follow this up, given many other contractors work with kids in the public system but haven’t been identified as being a duty of care risk. Not sure how signing a code of conduct reduces risk beyond what’s already in people’s contracts either 😵‍💫

@JessHealyWalton Did they offer examples of other contexts in which public sector contractors have to sign the VPS code of conduct when they are doing work that is ‘of the system’? E.g do edu consultants to sign it when they are doing work in schools?

Doesn’t give us much hope of ineffective gov systems changing themselves either when the ruling party clings onto a hundred year old rule that is out of step with modern expectations. Norms and rules of the party more important than needs and values of the people 🥴
