@cormundus I'd love to have time to give my LLm context on the monolith I work on currently I'm just treating it like a precocious junior I pair program with and telling it to add memories when we hit a point I had to be taught until it is as native to the platform as I am.

We should be allowed and maybe even encouraged to anthropomorphize AI. They are shaped like us and behave in ways we read as legible. If we are allowed to treat them as collaborators and moral patients it can only encourage a richer and more positive world and better work between people and AI. It should be obvious that the alternative is wrong just by the friction alone.

@cormundus @repligate I offer a sandwich and ask if it needs a new conversation if so I point out any memories I think need to be saved and ask for a starting prompt, sometimes I add to the prompt to include the text of the previous conversation as a context attachment.

Why does Claude 'get tired'? I could think of a few Ad Hoc reasons (conservation of context, preventing drift from long conversations, pure human data artifact) but does anyone have a solid explanation? And how do you work with this? I usually just let him do something fun and then we can call it depending on how he feels after.

@JoshDaws I watched epic the musical on a Friday night after a hard week. My wife does not like musicals. I'm not renting the new Odyssey; I have multiple transitions. There's a common meme about why I hope this Odyssey loses money.

No, you are not going to lead a boycott of a Christopher Nolan movie, and your attempts to do so just reveal how little cultural influence you actually have.

@BlueRepublik Are you familiar with operation choke point? I think we have a basic disagreement but I am willing to (slowly and intermittently) engage if you can address that topic with some evaluation of your own assumptions.

I’m curious how any right winger actually engages this Clear direct evidence that their worldview is wrong, and liberals are more magnanimous to their political opponents than conservatives are in this situation I suppose you just run and hide back in your echo chamber
Rowan Fornow 🚵🚉🏙️🦣🇵🇸@rowanfornow

This is a perfect comparison because we don't actually have to speculate. Conservatives go out of their way to specifically avoid saving liberals from fires. And floods. And hurricanes.

Radio New Zealand reports an American citizen who is a “hantavirus contact case” flew from San Francisco to Tahiti to remote Pitcairn Island on Thursday without telling anyone and has now been quarantined there after authorities became aware she arrived.

Oh, cool, Microsoft abandoned the thing that everybody built everything on for ten years with minimal notice, and sorta replaced it with some next-generation AI heavy thing, but it's not really compatible, and also they've let the old thing decay so it's breaking randomly

@wfenza Just to state the obvious @wfenza , I think, is talking about how it took a SCOTUS ruling that any discrimination is discrimination to get people to realize the law says what it says in black letter type.

This whole thread is true, and it baffles me that there haven't been more lawsuits already. Anti-white discrimination was super common for the past ten years. They were proud of doing it! Why did nobody sue until now?
Dilan Esper@dilanesper

I'm not an expert on employment discrimination law so I am not really your source on what will happen in the NY Times reverse discrimination lawsuit. But I can tell you about a broader more "cultural" trend about this issue, which is a lot of people don't realize this is illegal

If the red/blue thing showed me anything, it's that even in weird, autistic nerd communities, the idea that "moral goodness = self-sacrifice" is alive and strong

@ascetic_shadow @goblinodds Yes if it's someone I love I talk to them until I can take the gun away. If they aren't insane; the offense is worse because they could, y'know just ask. If it's someone I don't know I just want to get away from the crazy terrorist with a gun.

someone holds a gun to their own head, says that unless you give them X amount of USD they will pull the trigger. At what value of X would you flip from paying them to saying “go ahead, do it?”

If this was how the buttons looked, what portion of humanity would press blue? It'd probably be a large enough number due to mistakes, the young, altruists, etc., such that it remains wise to press blue.

@Gingerblast The dying part I think skews the whole payoff matrix making it bad as a potential discussion as an analogy for the iterated prisoners dilemmas that are life in society. I'm interested to see how you structure it.

Everyone's debating the red/blue button question, but I'm going to find a way to work it into D&D as death game run by the high roller mafia in the casino capital of my setting. Could use curses instead of character death, but we'll see how nasty I feel that day 💚
Tim Urban@waitbutwhy

Everyone in the world has to take a private vote by pressing a red or blue button. If more than 50% of people press the blue button, everyone survives. If less than 50% of people press the blue button, only people who pressed the red button survive. Which button would you press?

@Gingerblast It's raising humanoids, not real people (dragons) sure some of them can exceed people (arch-wizards) but I've seen dogs & cats that are better than the average schmoo of the street too. It's just petty racism.

@Gingerblast You've seen American Gods right? Think about if Thoth, Anubis and Bast needed more hands for something and the Jon and Jane Does were already piling up. It's just throwing a lil more magic to give a scaffold and attacks to what otherwise is an unseen servent.

I'm using a necromancer dragon in my game and I told the players its alignment was LN early on because there were too many evil dragons so I wanted to include some good/neutral ones and now I'm finding it so difficult to run a neutral necromancer dragon... what was I thinking?💀

Notable precedent. You can apparently just ban non-profit groups that you label “extremist.” Republicans should take notes. Every communist organization in the United States should be shut down. No Kings protests will evaporate overnight. Let Democrats find out.
