NOTTINGHAM CITY COUNCIL PROPOSES BAN ON BALACLAVAS IN CITY CENTRE TO BECOME SAFEST IN THE COUNTRY Nottingham City Council has announced plans to ban balaclavas in the city centre as part of a new Public Spaces Protection Order aimed at tackling antisocial behaviour and making the city the safest in Britain. Council leader Neghat Khan said the move follows public outcry and safety fears after two balaclava wearing teenagers murdered 24 year old Jack Edwards at a skate park in July 2024. The three year order would also outlaw disruptive busking unauthorised begging certain collections and selling the Big Issue in restricted areas. Khan stated it is about people feeling confident day or night adding that seeing people on e bikes wearing balaclavas even in 32 degree heat is not acceptable while respecting religious reasons.
