Summer's mother, grandmother, and three older brothers were at home when she disappeared, yet no one heard or saw anything. Within minutes, Hawkins County Sheriff's deputies arrived at Summer's home, and a staging area was set up for one of Tennessee's largest search-and-rescue missions. The FBI, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI), and the Hawkins County Sheriff's Office were all present for the search for Summer Wells. An Endangered Child alert was issued in the first hours of Summer's disappearance, only to be upgraded to an Amber Alert a short time later.
