@XelenX1 What are you on about? England is streets ahead of us in procurement reform. We’re still tied to MEAT up here, including in local authorities. England’s fast adopting a MAT model.

Scotland.... Don't forget how good you've got it As someone who has lived in both England & Scotland. Scotland is infinitely better run than England! The SNP aren't perfect but they're a hell of a lot better than labour.
Wes Streeting@wesstreeting

The SNP have had 20 years and have failed. Why should anyone believe they’d do any differently with another five? This is the best leader @ScottishLabour has had since Donald Dewar. Give him five years with the chance to build a better future for Scotland 👇🏻

@1ssve It wasn’t the workers that fumbled it. The corps have all the power. My fav part about RTO is all these ppl talked about global warming for a decade and now let’s make everyone drive in.

I think what him and others fail to realize is the last 20 in years of their lives will be lonely and unfulfilling. They already experienced everything to see or do. They have no idea the level of joy, purpose, and fulfillment kids bring. It's the only legacy that actually matters. Also, literally no one will be at their funeral. Because everyone they're close to will already be dead or incompetent by the time they die.

Friend of mine is 35 years old, married and doesn’t want kids. His household income is roughly $300k/yearly and his house is nearly paid off. They invest a good portion of their income for retirement, take multiple yearly vacations and live a nice life. I think people like this are going to regret not having kids in their future. One day when he’s old all he will have to look back on is the random stuff he bought and wasted money on. Instead of putting that money towards having kids and building a family he’s choosing consumerism. This just seems so wasteful and boring to me.

@Jo_Caulfield I’ll add another to this list: Looked up information on microfiche! In my NHS accounts team we still had payslips stored on them in 2001!

In a local group a woman posted this. And with this picture. She is offering her counselling services. If you are suffering domestic abuse please don’t go to this kind of counsellor because she has no idea what is going on and will do you more harm than good. This is disgusting. I’ve taken her details off. But ffs.

@EnoughNow2024 @dougiebrimson It’s around £95bn to cover public sector pensions and this is 6x higher than the private sector average. So you suggesting we continue to pay this and cut state pensions?

So basically, you want to take away my pension based on decades worth of contributions made through national insurance which I was obliged to pay from my earnings and hand the ‘saving’ to someone who quite possibly arrived here illegally and has never paid so much as a penny in tax. Fuck off. #VoteReformUK

@reeves1960 @dougiebrimson I thought as you’d made the claim about a 50% contribution level you’d know who pays that? You didn’t answer the question. You realise if the employer contribution is reduced, they’d have to make up the shortfall in salary instead - where’s the saving?

@EnoughNow2024 @dougiebrimson No idea google it the information is out there. The private sector make nothing like that level of contribution to defined contribution pensions. Public sector still paying defined benefit pensions is a throw back that the real world cannot afford.

@reeves1960 @dougiebrimson Which government department pays employer contributions of over 50%? And are you prepared for the tax rises required to pay higher salaries you’d be faced with if the employer contributions were reduced?

@dougiebrimson Funny how public sector pensions are left out of the conversation. Between 25% and over 50% of salary contributions from govt costing the Treasury nearly £100bn a year. Yet state pension is the problem.

@magentawillow @dougiebrimson They get pension credit instead. The amount in additional benefits that come with that are often more than the state pension itself. Bear in mind you still accrue NI contributions from the state when out of work and claiming benefits.

@dougiebrimson Nobody wants to do that 😂 The state pension is only payable to those who've made a certain number of national insurance contributions, those that haven't don't get it.

@staylorish @backinyerpram That was my first thought. The majority of properties for sale here are marketed as offers over and based on blind bids - what incentive is there for a landlord to sell direct to their tenant?

@NodrogSame39425 @blaiklockBP You really think you’ll get away with reducing public sector workers’ remuneration package? And if you’re in receipt of one yourself, who are you to deny others their contracted pension entitlement?

@EnoughNow2024 @blaiklockBP Nope...they can transition to DC schemes like the private sector has. The point is that Public sector pension schemes (of which I have a small one) are no longer affordable....and everyone has an excuse why their publicly funded income shouldn't be reduced....

If you are a poor pensioner and haven’t paid enough NI contributions and haven’t any savings, you get Pension Credit ( like Universal credit but for people over 67) and housing benefit. It means whether you have paid full NI contributions or not, becomes irrelevant.

Why are none of the people screaming about the state pension, mentioning the public sector pensions? Massive amounts of money, and these people get two dips in the public purse. Why aren’t they being mentioned?
