@ericclemmons Fair point. It's a red flag because most developers that work for a medium/large size company have no idea how their work on a particular project affects the company's bottom line.

Years ago, I applied for a job. I asked for $90k (what my previous employer said I wasn’t worth). He countered with $100k: “you’re worth more than you think.” Find an employer who will invest in and be fair to you.
