2025 Geminid meteor shower. Meteors from the night of 12/13-12/14. I captured a few. 🙂

Video of the meteor I posted a little while ago from 2 years ago this morning. If you look closely there is a smaller meteor just before the larger one showing that there is a lot of meteor activity this time of year. 8/3/2024 02:54 CDT

@Jeremyrand101 Looks like a ring-necked pheasant. Young enough that the ring hasn't filled in completely white yet. Nice catch.

2 years ago this morning I captured this nice meteor. Meteor season is here. The Perseid meteor shower is active and activity should increase up to the peak night of 8/12-8/13. 8/3/2024 02:54 CDT

@RayM5666 Thanks Ray! There were 4 bucks but I couldn't get them all in one frame. Probably the same 4 I see once in a while. One younger than the rest.

I had some visitors this morning.

@KPapavasileiou This meteor reached a magnitude of about -3, making it nearly a fireball meteor. It likely evaporated completely. The object was probably around 1 centimeter or less in size before entering earth's atmosphere. I could only speculate about composition.

Any data or specific speculations or even measurements you could have done for the size, volume, mass, composition of that exact meteor? I'm interested if you know or could guess properly. And yes, before entering our atmosphere and while the moment you captured it. Did it impact or just evaporated before collision?

2 years ago this morning I captured this really colorful meteor. We are entering meteor season. Numerous meteor showers are active right now including alpha Capricornids, known for producing bright fireballs, and the Perseids which peak 8/12-8/13 on the night of the new moon.

4 years ago tonight I captured this red sprite from southern Minnesota that was about 110 miles to my northeast above a thunderstorm over northwest Wisconsin. 8/2/2022 21:52 CDT

@MandyLSimard There are hundreds of butterflies along the ditch right now. Monarchs, painted ladies, clouded sulfurs, white cabbage and probably others. Great year for butterflies.
