8:37 am - this is the most insane video I’ve seen of the wildfire yet. It was raging near Wyandot Ct. in The Reserve at Walkers Woods early this morning. Heroic firefighters were able to suppress the fire and save all of these homes. Video via Greg Staff.

Hurricane #Milton Advisory 11A: Central Pressure in the Eye of Milton Has Fallen to a Near Record Low. Milton Poses an Extremely Serious Threat to Florida And Residents Are Urged to Follow the Orders of Local Officials. hurricanes.gov

#Milton is now a Category 5 #hurricane with max winds of 160 mph. Milton joins Michael as the only October Category 5 hurricanes in the Gulf of Mexico in the satellite era (1966-onwards).

As of this morning, the USGS has identified at least 244 landslides associated with #Helene in the Southeast. Most of these are in North Carolina. This was done by aircraft and on the ground in places with easier access. With weakened slopes, any rainfall in the next few weeks will keep debris flow and landslide risk higher than normal. The map shows the location of those slides that are already in identified. Flagged landslides include those that impacted rivers, roads, and structures. This may not reflect the current situation, only the status at the time of mapping. #NCStrong #Helene #wncwx

Three of the worst floods in South Carolina history occurred in 2015, 2016 (Matthew) and 2018 (Florence). They're still fresh in the minds of many so naturally, people want to know if the potential flood event this week will be the same as any of these. Short answer - we don't know since every storm is different. While 14-24" of rain is forecast for portions of southern South Carolina and eastern Georgia and 8-14" in parts of our area, precisely where the heaviest rain bands will set up is not known this far out. It's safe to say that this will be a catastrophic flood event for some. IF the current forecasts are correct, the highest likelihood of that would be over the southern half of South Carolina. With that said, flooding is definitely a possibility in our area too. #scwx #ncwx
