@TimothyDSnyder Given the billions being spent, are these numbers really all that impressive? Looks like diminishing returns, given how poorly the protesters express themselves. They cannot even answer a question about their own signs.
English

The premise of this article makes no sense. There is no either/or between protests and organizing. It is a plus/and. Getting millions of people out is organizational work! A huge amount of it done by thousands of people. And those very same Americans are also doing the other work that democracy needs. That is why they have the skills to add giant protests to the labor they are already doing every day. Organizers and activists deserve more credit in general and more space.

I don't think people understand the gravity of the situation as the UN is preparing for possible nuclear weapon use in Iran.
This is a picture of Tehran. For you uneducated, untraveled, never-served, warhawks licking your chops at the thought of bombing it. It's not some low population desert. There are families, children, family pets. Regular working class people with dreams. You're sick to want war.
Tehran is a city of nearly 10,000,000 people. Imagine nuking Washington, Berlin, Paris, London, or beyond, bombed with nuclear weapons.
I gave up my diplomatic career to leak this information. I suspended my duties so as not to be part of or a witness to this crime against humanity, in an attempt to prevent a nuclear winter before it is too late.
Yesterday, nearly ten million people protested “No Kings” in the United States. The possibility of the use of nuclear weapons must be taken very seriously. It's dangerous. Act now. Spread this message worldwide. Take the streets. Protest for our humanity and future. Only the people can stop it. History will remember us.

@Babygravy9 Here’s a good explanatory article on how we should interpret findings of this new study:
msn.com/en-us/health/o…
English

A very interesting new study found that a gut bacterium, Roseburia inulinivorans increases muscular strength without any exercise. Scientists did a study of human strength and its relation to gut bacteria and found a strong correlation between Roseburia inulinivorans and strength. They then transplanted the bacterium to mice with sterile guts and found a 30% strength increase without any form of exercise or training.
The scientists think the bacterium may be responsible for metabolic changes and changes to muscle fibres that increase power output.

As a medical school professor, I teach about APOE4 -- the gene that makes you 2.5x more likely to develop Alzheimer's. We've told patients there's nothing they can do about it.
A new JAMA Network Open study of 2,157 adults just proved us wrong.
Higher meat consumption completely abolished the APOE4 dementia risk.
The data:
-> APOE4 carriers with highest meat intake: 55% lower dementia risk
-> Their typical 2.5x excess Alzheimer's risk? Gone entirely
-> Cognitive decline reversed: +0.32 standard deviations over 10 years
-> Unprocessed meat was protective; processed meat was harmful regardless of genotype
Researchers propose APOE4 is an evolutionary adaptation to meat-rich diets. The gene isn't a defect -- we just stopped feeding it correctly.
This is personalized metabolic medicine. Your genes load the gun, but your diet pulls the trigger -- or puts the safety back on.
Full breakdown coming on the Health Longevity Secrets podcast.

@benbwieder @katelinthicum This is why we need to deport people quickly. There is no path to legal status without leaving the country. The longer we let them stay here, the more problems it causes.

@openworld I think this is the study that Grok is citing:

English

@Outdoctrination @grok how valid is the claim that fruit enzymes will clear eye floaters? What is the article or study supporting this claim?
English

Eye floaters eliminated with fruit enzymes.
This study used:
⬩190 mg bromelain
⬩95 mg papain
⬩95 mg ficin
Literally dissolves the floaters away within months.
⬩92% of people felt “bright”
⬩90% felt better or much better
⬩92% were satisfied
after supplementing.
◇ Pineapple
◇ Papaya
◇ Fig
are some foods with these enzymes, which tear apart the collagenous eye proteins.

Dalton (Analyze & Optimize)@Outdoctrination
Eye floaters disappear within 3 months of taking fruit enzymes. The enzymes contained in pineapple, papaya and fig: ⬩190 mg bromelain ⬩95 mg papain ⬩95 mg ficin Literally dissolve the floaters away.

@KregerPatricia She has created many viral video moments by smartly jabbing at this corrupt, inept, criminal government, but Talarico is giving a lot of Texans hope for a better future. His message may sound schmaltzy, but he seems authentic, and it worked with Dem primary voters.

Crockett: "What if someone from another country said 'We're gonna come and bomb America, kill civilians, because we have a warrant for the president's arrest because of the child sex trafficking in the Epstein files.' I can guarantee that every single one of you that is sticking up for him right now would be screaming from the rooftops. The analysis has to be the same."

You might think that if someone is sick at home, the only options are isolation or opening windows.
But there’s a simple principle — used in hospitals — that can significantly influence how air (and airborne particles) move between rooms.
And you can approximate it with something as simple as a window fan.

Experiments on rats and mice have shown that Toxoplasma alters their response to cat smells. Many infected rodents lose their natural fear of the scent. Some even seem to be attracted to it.

An unassuming single-celled organism called Toxoplasma gondii is one of the most successful parasites on Earth, infecting an estimated 11 percent of Americans and perhaps half of all people worldwide.
It's just as prevalent in many other species of mammals and birds. In a recent study in Ohio, scientists found the parasite in three-quarters of the white-tailed deer they studied.
One reason for Toxoplasma's success is its ability to manipulate its hosts.
The parasite can influence their behavior, so much so that hosts can put themselves at risk of death.
Scientists first discovered this strange mind control in the 1990s, but it's been hard to figure out how they manage it. Now a new study suggests that Toxoplasma can turn its host's
genes on and off - and it's possible other parasites use this strategy, too.

🚨🚨🇺🇸 USA Falls Off the Democracy Map. For the first time in 50 years, the United States no longer appears on the list of liberal democracies. In a single year, the country has fallen from 20th to 51st place. The V-Dem Institute calls it one of the most dramatic declines ever recorded.
The fall does not happen in a vacuum.
Brendan Carr is not among the most recognizable names in Trump’s orbit, but the head of the federal media regulator FCC made waves this weekend with a direct threat to the country’s broadcasters. Networks spreading what he called fake news were told they have an opportunity to correct course before their license renewals come up. The message was plain enough: fall in line, or face the consequences.
Staffan Lindberg, founding director of the V-Dem Institute, is blunt about what this means. Across so many dimensions, the retreat has been so severe that the United States can no longer be counted as a democracy. The term he uses is “electoral autocracy” – a system without genuine democracy that still goes through the motions of holding elections. Like Putin’s Russia.
What concerns him most: the assault on free speech, illustrated by the FCC chief’s latest threat.
An extreme concentration of power in the president’s hands. A Congress that, in Lindberg’s words, has abdicated. And Trump’s use of paramilitary forces in American cities – ICE soldiers who killed two civilian protesters this past winter.
“The United States used to talk about being a global beacon for democracy and freedom,” Lindberg says. “That idea has now been erased.”

BLM Announces Plan to Fell Oregon's Last Great Forests
One billion board feet per year... 20 days to make your voice heard.
They filter drinking water for downstream communities. They hold soil on steep slopes above salmon streams that are already in crisis. They’re home to the northern spotted owl, the marbled murrelet, coho salmon, steelhead, and hundreds of species that evolved over millennia in conditions you can’t replicate by planting seedlings in rows.

State Senator and MI Republican Party Chair @RunWithRunestad threw countless temper tantrums during yesterday’s State Senate Bill hearing to rein in ICE actions in Michigan. Take a look at what happens when a Republicans leaves their echo chamber and faces reality and rules. A total temper tantrum and meltdown. State Senator Chang, @stephanielily , chair of the committee, knew exactly how to keep the toddler tantrums in check though. 💅
The package of bills would prohibit ICE from entering community places like schools, hospitals, and places of worship, require judicial warrants and demask ICE in public. #mileg

Mitch Snow alleged he saw her with Cabot Philips two days prior to Charlie’s assassination in the lobby. Then he saw Brian Harpole, Charlie's head of security the next day in the debriefing. The incident report is public record.
Mitch’s son confirmed he was contacted by military authorities during his interrogation as his emergency contact. No alibi. Zero transparency. I found this video uploaded to YouTube 13 years ago and had only 130 views.

@LetsStopC9 “It has taken the death of a white woman, for white people to start objecting to ICE” - Not true!
English

It has taken the death of a white woman, for white people to start objecting to ICE as if people haven't died in ICE custody already. None of this is about right and left anymore, and never really has been; these white supremacist monsters care only for one thing, and that's WINNING. They are quite clearly prepared to take anyone out to achieve their goals, including white people who oppose them. This might mean they look away even harder, because whiteness always seeks to save its own comfort.
It has absolutely escalated faster than many have thought, and now we will see how quickly whiteness scrambles to preserve itself.
English

@CatParksTX @JasmineForUS “Dead people and non-citizens” on the voting rolls is a ruse. It’s a lie and an excuse that Republican politicians use to remove poorer and non-white people - who overwhelmingly vote for Democrats - from the rolls.
English

@MetaM00 @JasmineForUS Starting by removing dead people and non-citizens from the voters roles seems pretty fair to me…
English

Texas is SOOOO RED… BUT they are concerned about the rolls in a state completely RUN by REPUBLICANS…
The Gov is gonna spend 90 million in Harris County because we are so RED…
They needed to steal house seats because the state is soooo RED…
It could not be clearer that they are so afraid because we are voter suppressed & not voting, but we ARE NOT RED!
Gabby Birenbaum@birenbomb
Included in the voter roll data Texas turned over: DOBs, driver's license numbers and last four digits of SSNs Democrats say sharing the data could violate federal election law and creates privacy concerns. See letters TX SOS sent DOJ; DNC letter: texastribune.org/2026/01/09/tex…

Milwaukee Bucks head coach Doc Rivers just completely eviscerated, Donald Trump and ICE over the murder of Renee Good.
"What happened in Minnesota was straight up murder, in my opinion. This lady was probably trying to go home and she didn't make it home. The whole ice thing, it's a travesty… I keep thinking about kids and when I grew up, the president was always the role model. And I think about that and the effect of being a bully, lying — how's that good for our kids?"
