UPDATE: The Terrace RCMP has CANCELLED the #AmberAlert issued earlier today. The children have been returned to safety. Follow @BCRCMP and @TerraceRCMP for further updates. #BC

Canada always sends out alerts under PRESIDENTIAL. That's for nuclear attacks and other serious shit. All these alerts going back 10 years have been custody disputes. ALL OF THEM.

There was ABSOLUTELY NO REASON for this to be blasted out at 1AM to tens of thousands people who were in NO POSITION to do ANYTHING. I'm on Vancouver Island FFS! Tell me how waking me up at 1AM with a screaming alert is going to find these kids. This system is clearly broken. Fix it or I will find a way to disable it entirely.

@c__blakeley @EmergencyInfoBC @BCRCMP @TerraceRCMP When I was reading about the amber alerts in different countries amber alerts were designed for children in Immediate danger (threats of harm to such children, ransoms, etc.) For a parental dispute waking the entirety of BC for that is ridiculous.

@EmergencyInfoBC @BCRCMP @TerraceRCMP Amber alerts shouldn’t be used for parental and custody disputes. Sometimes it is parents taking their kids back from the Ministry. That is all they have been for the last several times and it is making a clown of the system. Especially the whole province at 1 am.
