BREAK @Shrivmohan resigns from Congress From: V Srinidhi National Secretary Youth Wing Indian National Congress To: Respected Party Leaders **Subject: Resignation from the post of National Secretary Youth Wing and primary membership of the party** Respected Leaders, With deep pain and profound distress, and after considerable reflection, I hereby tender my resignation from the post of National Secretary of the Youth Wing and from the primary membership of the party. Further, my conscience is deeply disturbed by the recent decision to induct three MLAs who had exited the NDA alliance. In the backdrop of Congress having earlier maintained that it would not align with divisive forces, this decision raises serious concerns about consistency and clarity of political principles. I therefore seek clarity on the basis and reasoning behind this move, as it has significantly contributed to my inability to continue in the position. Those who have already benefitted politically from the Secular Progressive Alliance, including those serving as Members of Parliament, Members of Legislative Assemblies and holding leadership positions, appear to be taking such decisions without fully reflecting on the realities and sentiments of those who worked at the ground level, which has caused deep anguish and a sense of disconnect. I contested the 2026 elections from the Singanallur Assembly constituency as part of the Secular Progressive Alliance. For me, that election was not merely a political contest; it was a journey rooted in trust, ideological commitment, dignity and the lived efforts of people who stood in the field day and night. During the election period, even though some members from my own party did not fully participate and instead supported Vijay’s party, the alliance cadre and workers who stood with me remained firm till the end. Because of their hard work and commitment, I was able to secure 65024 votes from Singanallur constituency. What pains me today is not electoral defeat. What hurts me more is being placed in a position where I am expected to walk away from those who stood with me, thereby breaking the trust, relationships and emotional bonds built over time. Further, how can I shake hands today with someone who defeated me yesterday? His victory in public perception is attributed more to the stardom and influence of his leader rather than his own individual effort in the constituency. Being asked to move forward in such a manner immediately after an election is something my conscience cannot accept. Without understanding the sentiments of candidates who have faced defeat and without respecting their lived political experience, the decision to immediately align with that party has created a breakdown of trust between leadership decisions and ground realities. This is not merely a political disagreement; it is a deeper ideological discomfort that cannot be ignored. Those who have already benefitted politically from the alliance including MPs, MLAs and senior leaders appear to take such decisions easily while those of us who have faced the election on the ground are left to deal with the emotional and political consequences. **I do not wish to run behind the horse that has already won just to gain positions. That is not my political conscience or my principle.** Tamil Nadu is everything to me. That is why I entered politics not for mere electoral victories but for a larger struggle rooted in ideology, dignity and the voice of the people. If victory alone had been my aim, I would have continued without hesitation. But I am here for a larger mission and struggle. Therefore, with deep pain and conviction, I hereby resign from the post of National Secretary, Youth Wing, Indian National Congress and from all primary membership of the party with immediate effect. This is not just a resignation from a post; it is a response born out of conscience that can no longer accept the breakdown of trust between leadership.
