Trump burned through 25% of our Tomahawk inventory and spiked gas prices while giving Iran a whole new funding stream by turning the Strait of Hormuz into a toll plaza and killed off their nation's 86 year old leader only to replaced by his 56 year old son. ART OF THE DEAL BABY🤡
Kelly Grieco@ka_grieco

Yikes. The US has burned through ~850 Tomahawks in 4 weeks. That's roughly a quarter of the inventory. At ~600 produced/year, that's ~1.5 years of production gone in a month. Hard to see what long-term political goal this buys. washingtonpost.com/national-secur…

@nexta_tv There is a joke about a writing tool in space where Americans spent 20 million USD to have a ballpoint pen which works in space, the soviets used a graphite pencil.

Rheinmetall CEO questions effectiveness of Ukrainian drones Rheinmetall CEO Armin Papperger criticized Ukrainian drones, calling them “housewife work” and “like Lego.” According to him, Ukraine has not delivered a technological breakthrough but is assembling drones from available components, including through 3D printing. He argues that such developments will not change the global arms market and do not match the level of major defense companies and their technologies. At the same time, Ukrainian commentators point out that modern warfare has changed the rules — cheap, disposable drones can effectively destroy expensive equipment and overwhelm air defense systems. In their view, it is mass production and accessibility, not costly high-end technology, that now provide a tactical advantage on the battlefield.

@DanDePetris Short cited thinking. Iran would get a nuke and could shut the Straight down anytime they wanted. Now, thanks to long view thinkers, Iran can't get a nuke and won't control the Straight. Thank God you're not in charge.

Trump’s top two goals in the war: (1) No Iranian nuclear weapon. (2) The Strait of Hormuz is open for business. Just a friendly reminder that we already had both before the war.

A $2.5 billion robot has been alone on another planet for 13 years and is still doing science. The scale of that sentence gets worse the longer you think about it. Curiosity landed in August 2012. Obama was president. Instagram had 80 million users. The iPhone 5 hadn’t shipped yet. The rover was designed for a two-year mission and 20 kilometers of driving. It’s now driven 35.5 kilometers, climbed over 327 meters up the side of a mountain, drilled 46 holes into Martian rock, and is currently running its fifth mission extension. The computer running all of this has 256 MB of RAM and a 200 MHz processor. Your AirPods have more computing power. Every command sent from Earth takes 14 minutes to arrive. Every photo sent back takes the same 14 minutes. When Curiosity drills into a rock, the team in Pasadena won’t know if it worked for half an hour. They’ve been operating on that delay, every single day, for 4,846 Martian sols. The power source is 10.6 pounds of plutonium-238 generating about 110 watts. Less than a ceiling fan. It will keep producing electricity for decades because the half-life of Pu-238 is 87.7 years. The rover will run out of moving parts before it runs out of power. And those wheels. Machined from single blocks of aluminum, 0.75 millimeters thick. Half a dime. JPL watched them get shredded by Martian rock starting in 2013, rerouted the entire mission path, taught the rover to drive backwards, and kept going. The wheels look like they lost a fight with a can opener. The rover is still climbing a mountain. Every iPhone you’ve owned since 2012 is in a landfill. Curiosity is on Mars, 140 million miles from the nearest repair shop, running on a ceiling fan’s worth of nuclear power, sending data through a 14-minute time delay, on shredded wheels, doing geology that rewrites what we know about whether life ever existed somewhere other than Earth. We built that. With 0.01% of the federal budget.

Cuba could import fuel tomorrow if the US stops threatening global shipping of fuel to Cuba, which is an outrage and a violation of international law. For all these countries that care about international law, they should be doing something about it. 🤡

Myth: If we tax billionaires they won't create jobs. Fact: Last year, billionaires got the largest tax break in history. Now, they are literally planning to replace every worker in America with a robot or AI. Trickle down economics is a scam. Tax billionaires out of existence.
