We are saddened to hear of the passing of Dr Sulaymaan Al Majid, a former @BMANorthernRDC co-chair. We thank Dr Al Majid for his contributions, some of which we have listed below, which made a meaningful difference to the pay and conditions of UK doctors. Our sincere condolences to his friends, family and colleagues. - Organised the big RVI picket line during resident doctor industrial action with national BBC coverage. - Assisted and advised on various local SDT and work schedule issues highlighted by members consistently throughout the year, directly improving member's working lives and ensuring they were paid correctly. - Proactively supported doctors across the region to know their rights regarding strike action and time out of training, including less than full time staff. - Provided support to doctors regarding ARCP decisions and helped get multiple unfair decisions due to Time Out Of Training overturned.

Whilst I’m not a GP partner, I’m happy to speculate that behaviour like this will do absolutely nothing to improve the employment prospects of associates going forward

When I was a very little boy I wanted to be a RAF fighter pilot. That didn’t happen but I also didn’t become a baggage handler at Heathrow and claim I was, ‘trained in the aviation model’. Why should medicine be any different?

This is the Litmus strategy that @MSEHospitals have signed up to. Deliberately slashing your pay then trying to "grip and control" you. No thought given to staff or patients. Know your worth. Do not pick up locum shifts for insulting rates.
