I am a first class engineering graduate, and I can tell you for free that this "nonchalant first class" is a bit of a myth. People love the idea of an effortless genius who parties all semester and then clears a 5.0 with three days of reading. In engineering, such stories usually end very early. You’ll remember I once told you how I read for 24 hours to score an A in Thermodynamics. If there was a way to do it without the sweat, I would have been the first to sign up. My school, Unilorin, is not built to favor the person who plays around. Those guys who were making 4.90 in 100 level while looking like they weren't trying... most of them went off the radar by the time we hit 300 level. The work caught up to them because you cannot cheat the system once the courses get technical. I also got to know early on that what people call nonchalance is usually just a very well-hidden work ethic. You see the football and the leisure because that is what is visible, but you do not see the hours they put in when the doors are closed. I know friends who did this. If you are still a student, note this: Even a genius will struggle if they do not prepare ✌️

Nonchalant First Class students are scary My friend will spend the whole semester playing ball, partying, touching no book… then 3 days to exam he skims through some books and boom 5.0. Engineering student o.

John Caleb 🇳🇬 clocked a time of 20.29s (3.2) to win his 200m heat at the Big Ten Championships in Lincoln, Nebraska! The fastest all-conditions time of his career. He fought hard to take the win, outleaning Nazzio John by just 0.002s.

If you're a naturally anxious person, I recommend pursuing a high stress career path where at least you'll be compensated for anxiety you're going to have anyways.

Once or twice in your career, you'll be faced with the prospect of joining a company with a very high attrition rate (more people leaving than are employed). You'll be confronted with the comforting thought that your case will be different. Don't entertain that thought.

It took me 5 months and about 25 interviews to land my first job in Canada 🇨🇦 But there is one I will never forget. I applied for a Canadian government role. French was listed as a requirement. I applied anyway. Got through the first stage. No French was tested. Second and final stage. I joined the call. Bonjour bonjour. (As how?) I thought that was just the greeting. The interviewer then calmly informed me that the entire interview would be conducted in French. I could feel my intestines shift. I said okay. A certified Duolingo dropout sitting in silence. The first question came. 45 seconds of full Québécois French. I waited for them to finish. Then I slowly asked if they could repeat the question in English. They did. Politely. I answered. Then they asked if I had any questions for them. That was it. Interview over. I never got a rejection email. Not one. They were too pissed to even send it 😭 What is your craziest job interview moment in diaspora or back home?

With the way Chidera has been besting Ghana’s fastest man, I feel he has a 10.0 in him if he runs on a world class track. Some months in school and sub 10 sharps!

James Taiwo Emmanuel was the one who impressed me the most in that men's 4x100m. I felt that we would lose it in that back straight, but boy, James flew away the moment he got that stick. Ivory Coast won that race in the 3rd leg, because they could connect quickly before Tejiri could get to Chidera. It doesn't mean that Tejiri didn't run well, just that the 3rd Ivorian was very fast.

What Chidera’s performance in Ghana tells me is he’d do a 10.0 on a world class track, and a sub 10 within months of getting a sensible school. A championship performer and sure guy🫶🏽 📷: @MakingOfChamps
