@KingOfSpagBol @Talking_spurss It's bad luck compounded by some poor decisions. Margins are slim in the prem with so many good teams so it's not a surprise it happened but it also means that it doesn't take much to change things around quickly.

De Zerbi’s upside is outrageously high if we do stay up. People don’t understand the impact of only playing one game a week, united have shown it this season with a failed championship manager in charge. Some fanbases are about to be reminded what this football club truly is

@CricketTragic5 @NUFC140420 I mean there's a reason 95% of pro's are turning that shot down - i think if it was 8/10 they wouldn't. Definitely more like a 6/10 shot

@NUFC140420 That’s slightly exaggerating IMO. It’s only such a good pot because of the pressure on it. A pro should be making that 8/10 usually I’d say.

@Certinfy @Pavlo__Escobar I mean I wouldn't call 10/1 odds a particularly great chance. Not impossible though but Ronnie was much more favoured than that this year after his first round game and didn't go on to do it.

The red/blue button situation has been intense, huh? One of the strangest (or saddest) things to witness is that people getting heated about "RED BUTTON IS THE ONLY LOGICAL SOLUTION" seem near incapable of framing the thought experiment outside a purely individualistic lens.

@BattleJeff1 @theblessedsalt Because this situation is obvious enough that you're expecting no one to jump in. In the original scenario, you know that people are going to press blue because they don't understand it.

@LiamSpurs1 @thfcAlex3 Ange was an avg manager but the fact the players all loved him made up for his tactical shortcomings. Should only have been sacked for a top quality replacement which was never happening so deserved another season.

@thfcAlex3 Villa were poor for 1 match. Ange lost 34 PL matches from his last 64 games. That is genuinely abysmal. But Ange is a top quality manager and that’s why big clubs all over Europe want to employ him… oh wait, no they don’t. Except maybe the kangaroo kickers

I will never understand the narrative around Ange Postecoglou being unfairly sacked last season 22 PL defeats, 38 points - a total that would see us relegated this season But all fine because he beat Frankfurt, Bodo Glimt and literally the poorest Utd in history

@Had2Explain @ben_bowman_ We'd start 3/4 and actually have an outstanding sub option. vs none available. Vicario, Romero, Solanke and potentially odobert... that's at least 6 starters. Ross Barkley started several other games in the prem recently including when they beat West Ham 2-0

@ben_bowman_ “We have 11 injuries” You cannot and will not start all of Xavi, Maddison, Kulu and Kudus. At most you start 2. You were missing 4 starters. They played Ross fucking Barkley. Yes, the “not out of place int he championship” is hyperbole, but they laid down for you.

@Mukherjea @witheredreg @SamGreenwoodRIO @RGHall I mean if you know opponent is bad and will call too wide you obviously adjust. Most good players are going to be v tight in this spot though. Also gl making a profit with some of these garbage hands otherwise. If you are going to adjust you need to be folding some of these hands

The BB is so tight that shoving any hand is +EV compared to fold. When you open jam from SB you can play more hands than only playing RFI. The BB can't fight back vs a shove (outside of waiting for a good hand), but can vs an RFI. If SB RFI 100% they can jam AQo, flat 65s or three-bet fold A2o. The CL wants to play 100% from the SB and needs to play open jams to keep their own value:bluff ratio narrow enough that the BB can't rebluff constantly.
LEGION | Joey Ingram 🐉@Joeingram1

have been deep in the FT ICM preflop lab and find how often this pattern shows up very strange @GTOWizard the chipleader is able to shove absurdly wide pre-flop when one or two super short stacks are alive 4-6 handed. In this one the CL can shove 65.5% of hands vs the 38bb BB because of the 6bb and 8bb stacks still alive and in the blinds next. the BB defense range is supposed to be 99-AA knowing that the SB is shoving that wide. My cash game brain is breaking trying to understand this spot because why would you want to risk so many chips with all the worst hands but it feels like chipleader mindset is to find spots to play very wide aggressive ranges short handed

An infamous roulette game in Monte Carlo Casino on August 18, 1913, saw the ball land on black 26 times in a row. Gamblers lost millions by repeatedly betting on red, convinced it had to happen eventually. The event became one of the most famous examples of the gambler’s fallacy.

@historydefined Unlikely anyone lost millions, certainly not in 1913. Roulette tables have maximum bets on each position and at Monte Carlo it’s around €2000 on red or black.

@D3layed @0xCOSM0 You're right that wording it in a different way makes peoples answers change. But the whole point of voting blue in the original is that a lot of people aren't going to understand the question, so your blue vote saves them. In this, there is no way to mis-interperet it.

most people would try to justify picking red. and you honestly cannot blame them, they aren't necessarily evil, just because they want to guarantee their survival. this is just sad for people picking blue, cause they are thinking for the collective survival of everyone betting with their life that complete strangers are good people
Tim Urban@waitbutwhy

Everyone in the world has to take a private vote by pressing a red or blue button. If more than 50% of people press the blue button, everyone survives. If less than 50% of people press the blue button, only people who pressed the red button survive. Which button would you press?

I'm convinced this is just a poorly phrased question. If you pose it as: - Anyone who presses the red button lives no matter what. - Anyone who presses the blue button dies, unless > 50% of people also press the blue button. then it's clear that pressing the blue button is dumb.

As a game theory question, it’s boring and easy. As a political question, it’s fascinating and reveals a great deal about why democracies struggle. Superficially, blue looks like the collectivist, selfless, moral answer. And as you’d expect, plenty of people not only assumed that to be true, but moralized aggressively at those who understand that’s not factually true. Anyone who picks red is guaranteed to live, including if everyone does it. It’s objectively the better and more moral choice for most and to recommend to others. Blue is a kind of stochastic suicide button.
