The 7th RMFM is a critical political and technical moment to move from framework development to implementation, converting existing tools and lessons into concrete, time-bound commitments with clear accountability. #7thRMFM @IOM_Uganda

I am deeply saddened by the passing of H.E. Nicholas (Fink) Haysom, Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Head of UNMISS. On behalf of IGAD, I extend sincere condolences to his family and the United Nations. We worked closely in advancing the implementation of the Revitalized Peace Agreement (RARCSS), where his leadership and commitment were instrumental in supporting peace efforts in South Sudan. His passing is a great loss to the region. We honour his legacy. May his soul rest in peace.

Today, on #InternationalWomensDay, I find myself reflecting on the life of a remarkable woman who profoundly shaped my journey. While the world celebrates the strength, resilience and impact of women today, my heart is especially drawn to honoring one woman whose influence on my life will never fade. She was more than just the mother of my cousins to me. She became a mentor, a guide, and in many ways, a mother figure. She welcomed me into her home, believed in me, and nurtured me at a time when I truly needed direction. Her kindness was quiet, but her impact was immense. There was a moment in my life when I had given up on school. I had made up my mind that I would not go back. Many people may not realize how fragile that moment was, how easily my path could have taken a different direction. But she saw something in me that I could not see in myself at the time. With patience, calm encouragement, and genuine belief in my potential, she motivated me to return to school. What may have seemed like a small conversation or a simple push from her changed the trajectory of my life. That one act of encouragement contributed greatly to the person I am today. The opportunities I have had, the knowledge I gained, and the path I walk now are all, in some way, connected to that moment when she believed in me enough to push me forward. She also instilled in me values that continue to guide me every day, patience, perseverance, humility, and strength in the face of challenges. These were not just words she spoke; they were values she lived by and passed on through her actions. Today, as the world celebrates women and their incredible contributions to our lives and communities, I dedicate this International Women’s Day to her memory. She represents the kind of woman whose influence may not always be loudly recognized, but whose impact is deeply felt in the lives she touched. I carry immense respect and gratitude for her. The best way I can honor her legacy is by living the values she taught me and continuing to walk the path she encouraged me to pursue. Rest in peace, Mum. Your impact lives on. 🌹
