His family warns his health is seriously deteriorating due to physical violence inflicted on him, ongoing significant weight loss, and systematic medical neglect. Dr. Abu Safiya was among the Palestinian detainees the Palestinian resistance pushed to have released under the October ceasefire agreement. He was arrested in December 2024 after refusing to evacuate Kamal Adwan Hospital despite repeated Israeli strikes on the facility. He remained with his patients even after his son Ibrahim was killed in October 2024. His family is demanding his immediate and unconditional release, calling on the international community and human rights institutions to intervene.
