It is part of the Canadian Heritage portfolio and operates at arm’s length from the day-to-day executive branch of government. They report to Marc miller. He wouldn't hide anything from Canadians.... While independent in its regulatory decisions, the government can issue policy directions to the CRTC, and its budget and mandate are set by federal legislation

I don't know why you're comparing Canada to the US. We are not even close to competing with them on a country comparison level. Stand on your own 2 feet and be self sufficient.
