Wouldn’t it be wonderful to return to a world of surnames? Do away with over familiarity and the blurring of boundries.

If a priest introduces himself as Father Surname, he should address his parishioners as Mr., Mrs., or Miss Surname. Same with Doctor Surname and patients. Same with college Professor Surname and students. Or we could just not fool with it and use Christian names.

@ALucieSmith Within the Church of England this position is represented chiefly by The Society sswsh.com

@thevicarswife @2D0XPS I was leading worship at Soul Survivor Watford, singing O Happy Day :)

I was three. We went to see the Millennium Beacon lit and I enjoyed the walk there with a torch in the dark so much that we did it all again on New Year's Day.

I wonder how people felt at 11:59 p.m. of dec. 1999 before crossing over to the year 2000.

@ViaMediaVoice He had tea with Geoffrey Fisher (first time a Pope spoke to an ABC since the Reformation)

There must be some reason for it but I cannot fathom why it is that @Augustine_Inst managed to get the Catholic ESV spot-on but in the UK they foisted us with this horrid sans-serif typography. Every time I think about buying an Anglicised ESV-CE I reconsider.

@thevicarswife @exceeding_love A wedding I served at for some dear friends communicated only the bride and groom because of exactly this reason. (There was another celebration of Holy Communion earlier at that day at which anyone could receive)
The reception was full of great conversations about the Faith

@exceeding_love Historically this has not happened though. And now many guests would not be baptised, let alone communicants so it seems extra unhelpful to do this. Bride and groom can just go to church on Sunday morning, as my son and his bride will be in August.
English

In the Church of England weddings are legally public worship. Anyone can attend, whether they’re an invited guest, a member of the congregation, or just a passer-by who was interested.
And Communion isn’t just permissible at weddings, it’s encouraged.

Don’t do communion at your wedding, it is not the assembly of the church.
