My grandma has lived in the same house since 1974. Paid it off in 1991. Her property tax that year was $600. Her property tax this year is $26,000. She's 76 on fixed income and terrified of losing the house she's owned for 50+ years. You don't age out of the bill. It just keeps coming.

A house was purchased for $600k in Utah. Renovations were done and it was relisted for $1.6 million People in the neighborhood were so upset they vandalized the home “Go away greedy flippers” It was repainted and sold. This can’t continue, housing must become affordable again

The tarrifs turned out to be a disaster. Companies made out like bandits raising prices on goods to the consumer to compensate for the tariffs then getting all the tariff money back again. It was the consumer that got screwed as inflation soared.

If this is the opinion then let them clock in and out when they are actively doing work, including grading papers at home, supervising their off campus duties like Proms or coaching their first and second sport, and pay them by the hour. My wife and I got into it last night about the grocery bill. I pulled up an old Target order from February 2020. 28 items. $64.50. Added every single one back to the cart just to see. $158.30. Same 28 items. Same store. Same cart. $93.80 more. In five years. We didn’t buy more. Didn’t upgrade anything. Didn’t add a single extra item. Just needed the same things we always needed. They told us inflation was transitory. They told us it was under control. They told us the economy was strong. Our cart didn’t get any of those memos. 145% increase in five years. Not one member of Congress has looked at a grocery receipt in decades. And it shows.

The housing market has flipped completely. Sellers cannot sell without dropping prices. Buyers cannot buy without overextending. Renters are paying 2021 luxury prices for 2010 apartments. Landlords are weaponizing the fact that homeownership is inaccessible. And the people caught in the middle are not a fringe group. They are the majority of working Americans. Being squeezed from every direction simultaneously. With no policy in place to relieve the pressure from any of them.
