Tomorrow, you’re probably going to feel wrecked. Calves, ankles, quads…even your shoulders. And don’t be surprised if there’s some serious brain fog too.
Just recover.
For most runners, it takes longer than you think. Don’t try to be a hero and jump right back in. That’s the fastest way to get injured after a marathon. You’re not going to lose all your fitness. Take the week off. Go for some easy walks, relax, and let your body actually heal.
Once the aches and pains are gone, give it another 2–3 days before slowly easing back into training. For some 5-10 days recovery is fine, for others it may be 2-3 weeks. The key is to listen to your body and don't force runs if the body is telling you it's not ready. You accomplished something pretty big. Just enjoy it so you can stay healthy and do another. 👊

Placements at Parkruns don't really matter. Sometimes I'll finish 30th with a quicker time than when I've finished the same course in 20th place. What matters most is the time that you finish in. Which is ultimately just you competing with yourself. Nobody else.

Parkrun is going to have to decide if it's a race or a fun run.
I have never done parkrun, but I know people who are volunteer stewards. I do hope it decides to be a funrun, that always seemed the important part.

If their English is so bad they can't understand basic idioms then they'll be using some form of translation service. When the language barrier is that apparent and immediate, no-one will be using idioms anyway.
I defy you to give me an example where this has been a problem.
That is not what this advice has been written in mind with.
We don't actually have to keep apologising for ourselves and making sweeping changes to our conduct to account for edge cases and hypotheticals.

Turns out there was no “order” and no fear of “offending” anyone. It was simply a guidance that said “hey if you are treating a foreigner don’t assume they’d understand idioms even if they are fluent”.
