@BethesdaStudios Y’all are lazy. You can put Indiana jones and the great circle in a switch 2 card with no problems but you can’t put games that are over a decade old on a switch 2 card, and not even a key card? Just wow.

PlayStation support has confirmed that a new digital rights management policy for the console is intentional, not a glitch. Starting with any digital games purchased after the March 2026 system update, your PS5 will require an internet connection at least once every 30 days to validate the license. If the console stays offline longer than that, the games simply will not launch until you reconnect. This change does not affect any titles already in your library. Setting a console as your primary system also will not bypass the monthly check-in.

So as soon as the new playstations come out, and our PS5s stop being “supported” for online access, then suddenly all our consoles become bricks? this is complete bullshit. If I paid for it? and I took good enough care of it? IT SHOULD LAST. I still have my childhood consoles: Dreamcast, PS2 & Wii.. and they all function & play. As a lifelong Playstaion gal… I gotta say, @PlayStation is shooting themselves in the foot.

Low-key feel like Xbox giving up on trying anymore is a big reason why Sony is making so many terrible decisions. Microsoft threw in the towel now Sony feels like they basically have no competition. They immediately started making bad decisions and doing anything once they realized Xbox wasn’t even fighting back anymore. Please @Xbox come back with some heat and light a fire under their ass I beg.

The new DRM on the PlayStation update is a disgrace to gaming, Sony should make a statement whenever this PlayStation Support message is real or faked. This issue with this 30-Day Timer being applied to all new purchases isn't about having an active internet connection, but the concept of ownership. Sony is taking the rights away from users who purchase their games digitally. If you go offline for more than 30 days, you're locked from playing a game that you bought with your own money. Your console shouldn't require an active online internet connection to verify the purchase or the validity of a video-game that you've purchased previously in my opinion.

Here's the part that should scare you: → No public announcement → Not mentioned in ToS → Primary Console doesn't help → Affects ALL purchases after March 2026 PlayStation support called it a "technical measure"

One of my viewers contacted PlayStation support about the 30 day DRM update for PS4/PS5 games. The response they got makes it sound like this is not a mistake or "bug" and is intentional. They describe it as a "technical feature". Sony still hasn't officially responded yet.
