Ich oute mich mal. Bin stolzes Mitglied der Grünen, und strikt gegen T30 auf großen Durchfahrtsstraßen innerorts.
1. Luftreinhaltung ist ein Witz im 2. Gang, mit eAuto obsolet.
2. Wir haben hier sehr lange Straßendörfer, lange Kolonnen mit echten 24 km/h, nervt nur noch.

So absurd. Die CSU feiert, dass in München auf dem Mittleren Ring Tempo 30 abgeschafft wird, weil die Luftwerte um zwei Mikrogramm eingehalten werden. Jetzt müssen zahlreiche Schilder ausgetauscht werden. Das Blöde: In wenigen Jahren verschärft die EU die Grenzwerte erneut, sodass an der Stelle wahrscheinlich erneut die Grenzwerte gerissen und Tempo 30 eingeführt werden muss. Das 🇩🇪 Verkehrsrecht ist so absurd und die CSU eine Autolobby-Partei, die die „Freiheit“ der Autofahrer für wichtiger hält als die Gesundheit ihrer Bürger!

@salingergregor Yes because they’re separated by the Caribbean plate and that has nothing to do with what islands are. Technically every land mass is an island, but Western Europe is definitely not on a different island than the rest of Europe up until a river system in Russia.

This has been making the rounds as quizz, which is always nice given one person died here. 2016: a Daalo Airlines A321 was bombed over Mogadishu. Jet landed safely, one pax died, 3 injured (more info on the comment section.

@temberaubend Das Universitätsklinikum Augsburg als Maximalversorger und größtes Krankenhaus von Bayerns drittgrößter Stadt führt auch keine Abbrüche durch, weil der Oberchef das so will. Das kann man sich auch nicht ausdenken, vor allem weil es in Augsburg sonst auch keine andere Option gibt

.@AlaskaAir is out with two new transatlantic routes from Seattle: London and Reykjavik.
The crazy part is the new SEA-KEF flight will be the longest one operated by a U.S. airline on the 737 MAX 🤮
Also, any idea how Alaska got a Heathrow slot?! (I assume from BA or AA?)

Amazing news from @aegeanairlines :
The greek airline invests in two new Airbus A321neo XLR aircraft expected to be delivered in December 2025 and January 2026 for new direct flights to New Delhi in March 2026 and Mumbai in India as of March 2026.
The two XLR will have a customized configuration of only 138 seats in total, of which 24 are Business Class Suites with fully lie-flat beds, increased privacy and full aisle access.

@lochmill64 @MCCCANM He was looking to retire early to care for his father, and reportedly told someone that he had only one or two more flights left to be with him again. Which in hindsight sounds very ominous.

Experts believe the senior pilot of the Air India flight that crashed last month, killing 260 people, may have intentionally shut off the fuel switches.
Black box recordings reveal the co-pilot panicked after asking the captain why he shut them off, while the captain remained calm.

@MCCCANM One has to wonder. CA calls “gear up”, FO responds by mindlessly shutting off fuel control switches, something he’s done countless times after a flight. Gear handle was found in down pos.
Good pilots know to pause and think before taking irreversible action in a flying machine.

For context: these are the “Engine Start Levers” (fuel cutoff switches) on the 787.
They are a kind of locking switch; you have to pull them outward (back) to move them. Once moved to a new position, they lock back in place. The triangular metal on either side are switch guards.
The design is an old one. On at least one earlier occasion, the switches were moved by accident; that investigation revealed another incident in which the switches were also probably moved by accident.
I’m not saying that is what happened here, but the context is important.

@MCCCANM I think every passenger has experienced descend rates higher than that. My record is ~5,500ft/m on a 787 coming into DXB when ATC decided to switch runways to a configuration that allowed for a straight in approach. That was a fun trip, and not just because of that.

That’s not really an excessive rate of descent. 2,600’ per minute is actually a very normal rate of descent.
