While you were over here trying to figure out how you were going to cover the rent and food—this guy was over there using $5.1 million in taxpayer money YOU paid into the system to cover these statues in 23 karat gold. Yeah, he did that.

With numerous large fires already burning, the weekend fire wx outlook is concerning for interior PacNW (Cascades crest eastward). A dry cold frontal passage will bring strong winds/low humidity against severe drought backdrop, leading to "extremely critical" risk. #ORwx #WAwx

🚨 UPDATE: A single ancient 100-year-old cottonwood tree is left standing they call the “Grandmother”. Protestors have launched a “tree sit-in” to block the workers from felling her to halt border wall construction. To support: givebutter.com/stop-destructi…
Sammi🦋@StoriesBySammi

Border Patrol bulldozed three century-old cottonwood trees on the US-Mexico border this week. Nesting birds were still inside them. Before touching a single tree, Border Patrol put a promise in writing. Environmental monitors would check the trees first. Any active nests they found would get a protected buffer zone, left alone until the babies were old enough to leave on their own. The Sierra Club didn't just take their word for it. They sent Border Patrol actual video, proof that birds were nesting in those exact trees, weeks before construction started. Border Patrol never even responded. Then the promise meant nothing anyway. No monitors showed up. No buffer zone was set. Crews brought in heavy machinery and took the trees down with the nests still in them. The same trees that hold nesting birds every single spring. The same trees whose roots cross the border underground and lean on each other for support, one country's tree holding up another's. The same trees that shelter antelope, bighorn sheep, and one of the last jaguars left in the US, all of whom use this valley to cross between countries too. The same trees standing in Lochiel, a ghost town that hasn't had a working border crossing since the 1980s, disturbed by almost nothing until this week. A protester named Logan Miller, who tried to stop the crews, got arrested. One tree is still standing. An activist named Kate Scott is camping next to it right now, for as long as she can. "Us as humans could take a little chapter out of their book about coexisting," she said. Taxpayers are footing a $309 million bill so a company called Fisher Sand and Gravel can bulldoze nesting birds the government promised to protect. Crossings in this area collapsed by more than 95% in a single year. DHS itself stood in Nogales, right next door, this February, and called it the most secure border in American history. The law that let them skip NEPA, the Endangered Species Act, the Migratory Bird Treaty Act, and the Clean Water Act dates back to 1996. It allowed Noem to waive almost any environmental protection on the books. No review. No appeal. All at her sole discretion. In the decade before Trump's first term, it was used seven times total. Trump used it 29 times in four years, and is still using it to date. Project 2025's own foreword, written by Kevin Roberts, dismisses environmental protection as "the Left's love affair with environmental extremism." Who's protecting the birds when the agency that promised to won't even keep its word on paper? 🐦 #DemsUnited

This is not a conspiracy theory. Here we are witnessing the actual midterms meddling by republicans with our own eyes. -Elon has restarted his PAC, possibly spending hundreds of millions of his money in the midterm. -Kash Patel is summoned to Putin to coordinate the social media attacks, and bomb scares coordinated by FBI. -with Blanche nomination on hold, the slush fun goes into effect offering a $1 billion bonuses to proud boys and Jan6rs to disrupt the voting. They know how to storm buildings -ICE boys are salivating on the opportunity to show up for the brown folks at the polling places -AI, yes, Elon and Peter Thiel have all the information on Americans after they stole our datas from the Social Security Administration during DOGE days. They love to see what they can do with that information. This is their chance -who can forget the bomb threats and shutting down the voting places long enough for Elon to connect to Starlink. And didn’t he blew a few right after the election to erase the data? - communism, communism, communism. The billionaires social media bots in millions, will scream communist democrats ad nauseam Now I showed you what they’d do. You need to have every member of your family to the voting station to vote blue. Scare your MAGA grandma and grandpa shitless that they’d be losing their Medicare Part d and won’t be able to survive without their medicine. Now get to the streets and make some noises in millions before the election Good luck. 👊💙🇺🇸🥂

@bourscheid Agreed~if? We have elections in November. That statement would have been hyperbole in the past. Not having elections in November? Is a real threat now. Anyone not knowing why that’s true? Needs to be paying MUCH more attention. Not doing so? Is what got us in this mess.

Bookmark this. Dems will win both House & Senate in November, regardless of how much cash Elon funnels to MAGA. You can’t buy your way out of this level of incompetence, failed leadership & blatant corruption.

@covie_93 We are living in the Upside Down now. It’s a daily nightmare on too many levels. “Maybe?” we can still stop it? But every - single - day - that - idiocy - like - this flourishes? The further away we get from ending the nightmare. No consequences for those who deserve them…

A Flock surveillance camera was hiding inside a speed radar. A video recorded in Volusia County, Florida, revealed a Flock automated license plate reader concealed inside the metal housing of what appeared to be a roadside speed display. To approaching drivers and pedestrians, the surveillance device was almost impossible to see. The discovery comes amid growing public backlash against Flock’s rapidly expanding camera network. In Volusia County alone, officials said four cameras were recently vandalized. Two poles were cut down, one was bent and another camera was covered with a plastic bag. Elsewhere, people have paint-bombed camera lenses, damaged solar panels and sawed entire surveillance towers to the ground. Privacy advocates say 53 U.S. cities have ended their Flock contracts, although some have switched to other license plate reader companies. Unlike conventional speed cameras, Flock devices do not primarily issue speeding tickets. They photograph passing vehicles and use software to identify license plates, vehicle color, make, model and distinctive details such as bumper stickers, roof racks and visible damage. Each detection is stored with a time and location, creating a searchable record for police. Flock says the technology helps law enforcement locate stolen vehicles, missing people and criminal suspects. The Volusia County sheriff has defended the system, saying its alerts rely on police “hot lists” and that local data are deleted after 30 days. Critics argue that a nationwide network of plate readers can allow authorities to reconstruct people’s movements, including those who are not suspected of crimes. Concerns have also grown over which outside agencies can search locally collected data. There is no confirmation that the Florida camera was concealed specifically to protect it from vandalism, or that hidden installations are standard Flock practice. But as visible cameras face mounting resistance, the discovery shows how easily the same surveillance technology can disappear inside roadside objects that most drivers would never question.
