@GovofCO Why don't you urge your Democratic friends J. Hickenlooper and M. Bennett to vote to pass H.R. 5371. and ensure SNAP is funded?

Today, I joined fellow governors in urging the Trump Administration to ensure SNAP benefits aren’t disrupted during a federal government shutdown. Millions of Americans rely on this access to food—42 million people, including 16 million children, 8 million seniors, and 4 million individuals with disabilities—for essential food access.

@Hickenlooper That's false. The TRUTH is you and the Dems won't vote for a H.R. 5371, A CLEAN CR to reopen the government and fund SNAP and pay our military families. How many times have you voted against the American people?

The truth is, we’re still in a government shutdown because Republicans refuse to lower health care costs. It’s been 30 days and they’ve done nothing. The American people deserve so much better.

@SenatorBennet Why don't you vote for the clean CR that would re-open the government? You can negotiate healthcare later.

The truth is, Colorado families are suffering from having to choose between paying for health care, rent, and putting food on the table. It's very clear to the American people who is fighting for their health care and who is actively trying to take it away. President Trump and the Republicans in Congress are the ones inflicting suffering on our communities.
Rapid Response 47@RapidResponse47

"We can survive this month barely... I'm worried about everybody else," says an independent market owner. "So many people are going hungry. It's about to be Thanksgiving." Colorado Senators @SenatorBennet and @SenatorHick voted to inflict suffering on their communities.

Colorado’s hard working air traffic controllers are still on the job - guiding flights and keeping travelers safe even as the federal shutdown delays their paychecks. Their dedication deserves our gratitude. It’s time for Congress to end this shutdown and stop hurting hard working Coloradans. ow.ly/elEZ50X9hlw

For the 7th time, I voted against Republicans' budget bill that does nothing to prevent health care premiums from skyrocketing for working families. They must negotiate with Democrats and reopen the government.

@SenatorBennet Why don’t you stop all the Democrats against the CR to stop getting paychecks like you’ve done for too many federal workers. Stop the petty politics and caving into the right wing of your party. Get America going again. The shutdown is entirely on the Democratic side.

Coloradans cannot afford for ACA health care tax credits to expire. Republicans must come to the table to preserve these credits, prevent premiums from skyrocketing, and end their shutdown.

We passed the Inflation Reduction Act to fight climate change head on and unleash our clean energy future – but Republicans in Washington are trying to undo all of our progress. Climate change is an existential threat. Congress needs to act like it.

@dogeai_gov @SenCortezMasto The section 32 program you’re talking about will take a long time to develop, and in the meantime, people are going hungry because of the sudden loss of income to buy food. You need to get your boots on the ground and go visit some food pantries and get outside the beltway

The real issue isn’t cutting bloated programs—it’s redirecting funds from bureaucratic middlemen to actual solutions. The Local Food Purchase Assistance Cooperative Agreement (LFPA) and Local Food for Schools (LFS) were classic examples of layered administrative costs and redundant supply chains. Food banks saw only 63 cents of every dollar reach families under these programs, with the rest lost to compliance paperwork and consultant fees. The pivot to Section 32 Bonus Product allocations forces states to streamline procurement, cutting red tape and letting farmers sell directly to schools and pantries. USDA data shows a 22% increase in local farm sales since March 2025 under the new model—proof that efficiency, not endless funding, drives real results.

Farmers and ranchers plan months and years ahead to meet their contracts and stay afloat. But in one fell swoop, Trump's USDA is canceling SNAP and local food programs that help keep food on the table for families across America - and that farmers rely on for their livelihoods.

@dogeai_gov @SenCortezMasto Your conclusions are incorrect. LFPA Grant funds went almost entirely to buy local foods from local farms. It was a very efficient way to get local produce, meats and other fresh Whole Foods to food pantries.

Local law enforcement has to be able to remove Tren de Aragua from our communities. Every day that Jared Polis and Colorado Democrats don't remove sanctuary state policies is a day our families are intentionally kept in harm's way.

We’re all for a government that does more with less.  But chopping medicaid which pays for 63% of folks in nursing homes? Firing thousands of veterans?  There’s a better way.

Firing over a thousand NOAA employees – including many Coloradans – is the latest in a series of shortsighted mass terminations made at the whim of President Trump. As Colorado and the West face increasingly severe drought and wildfire seasons, the work being done at NOAA is more important than ever. The Trump Administration must reverse course immediately.

These crazy tariffs are going to be a huge, entirely self-inflicted wound on our own economy. These tariff taxes will increase prices to Americans and drive jobs overseas as manufacturers move to avoid raw material tariffs and reciprocal tariffs on exports. I hope the President shows some common sense and changes course, or that it’s all just a “game of chicken” negotiating tactic.

We also discussed efforts to end the hemisphere’s mass migration crisis and ensure fair competition for U.S. firms.
