The follow-up parent/teacher conference was yesterday My wife went alone I watched her pull out of the driveway Then I called my analyst He was already in his car Parked in the alley Engine running I wore cargo shorts Six pockets Pocket three had the school handbook Pocket five had a highlighter We arrived at 3:42pm Three minutes early My wife saw my analyst in the hallway before she saw me She stopped walking Then she saw me She said "why is he here" I said "support" She said "for what" I said "the meeting" She said "this is a parent-teacher conference and you aren't supposed to be here" I said "every meeting is a negotiation" She didn't move I held the door The teacher was waiting She was not alone The principal was seated beside her Arms folded They brought backup So did I My analyst sat down and opened his laptop He asked for the WiFi password The teacher said "we don't give that to visitors" He said "no problem" and turned on his hotspot I taught him well My wife put her head in her hands The principal introduced himself Firm handshake Said he wanted to "make sure we're all on the same page" I said "I love alignment" My wife looked at the ceiling The teacher pulled out a folder Same color-coded tabs as last time I respected the consistency She said our son has made "some improvements" but there are still "areas of concern" I said "can you quantify that" She said "it's not really a numbers-based assessment" I looked at my analyst He looked at me We didn't say anything The teacher said he still "challenges classroom structure" I pulled the school handbook from pocket three Page 34 Section 2.7 Parent Rights and Student Evaluation Standards I had highlighted six lines The principal looked at the handbook Then looked at my cargo shorts Then back at the handbook The teacher said there was an incident with a multiple-choice question She pulled out the test I pulled my copy from pocket two The teacher stopped talking My wife closed her eyes The question listed fifteen gender options My son selected none of them He wrote "Not applicable" Below that he wrote "Identified: Chromosome XY" Below that he wrote "Source: Biology textbook, page 217" With a footnote My wife looked at me She said "oh my god he's becoming you" I said "thank you" She said "that wasn't a compliment" The teacher said "that's not how multiple choice works" I said "was his answer correct" She paused The teacher looked at the ceiling Why does everyone keep doing that The principal stepped in He said "the concern isn't accuracy. It's compliance." I said "interesting. My auditors say the same thing." My analyst typed something I didn't ask what My wife looked at the ceiling again The principal said he thinks our son would "benefit from learning to work within established frameworks" I said "he will. And then he'll spend his career fixing them." Nobody spoke The teacher closed her folder The principal didn't shake my hand My analyst asked if there would be a follow-up The teacher said "I hope not" In the parking lot my wife said "you wore cargo shorts to a school meeting that you weren't invited to" I said "I needed the pockets" She didn't argue She said "we need to talk about this at couples therapy" I said "only if I can bring my analyst" She got in her car My analyst sent me his notes before I got to mine Formatted Bulleted With action items There were none Except for Plz Fix. Thx. Sent from my iPhone

🧵 I've spent the past week writing about whether Republicans can break Democrats' SAVE America Act filibuster without 60 votes. The answer is yes. Here's the argument, piece by piece. [1/17]

@jameswallner Doesn’t each amendment offered bring up a new “question” and therefore it’s virtually impossible to exhaust the two speech rule? I’m supportive of the SAVE Act. Just trying to figure out the obstacles. Your posts are great.

[4/17] The tool to exhaust them is Rule XIX. It caps each senator at two speeches per legislative day on a question. A "legislative day" doesn't reset at midnight — it only resets when the Senate adjourns. Republicans control whether to recess or adjourn. That's leverage.

This past August, we were flying cross‑country with our 8‑month‑old son after his sixth round of chemo. His stomach hurt, his little body was exhausted, and he kept letting out that soft, broken whine babies make when they’re uncomfortable but trying so hard to settle. Not screaming. Not throwing a fit. Just hurting in the only way he knew how. In front of us was a family taking their daughter to SMU’s freshman welcome week. Their biggest stress was how she was going to fit all her clothes in her dorm room — and she was the one who kept turning around. Every few minutes, this privileged freshman would glare at my wife like our son was ruining her trip and her wardrobe planning. It lasted maybe 30 minutes before he fell asleep. But the way those looks made my wife feel… man. I’ll be honest — I was praying she got a nightmare roommate who “borrowed” every outfit she brought. That flight reminded me of something important: you never know what that baby is going through, you never know what those parents are carrying, and you never know what that tiny cry is coming from. So yeah, maybe a baby whining on a plane is annoying. But sometimes that sound is coming from a kid fighting battles you can’t see — and parents doing everything they can just to make it through the day. A little grace goes a long way.
Laura Loomer@LauraLoomer

Is there anything worse than a crying baby on a plane? I wish parents would control their children. It’s so disruptive. I refuse to believe a baby cries for 10 hours. At some point this is just bad parenting, right?

US Senate weekend recap: Republicans stayed in DC for unusual Friday/Saturday/Sunday sessions. Why? To ensure all 50 States secure our elections with common sense voter ID and proof of citizenship. Democrats used the filibuster to protect illegals voting. They even blocked a measure that would require just voter ID! Republicans also demanded that we protect women’s sports and ban biological men from competing in women’s sports. Democrats used the filibuster again and blocked that common sense measure, showing once again their disdain for women. On DHS, Republicans fought like heck to end this insane shutdown that has led to chaos and put America in danger. Status update on negotiations: Democrats are holding the paychecks of 260,000 Americans hostage unless Republicans agree not to deport any more illegal aliens. Finally, Republicans proposed withholding the paychecks of Senators if they fail to fund the government. Democrats blocked that proposal without any commentary or debate, they just ran off the Senate floor. We will continue to make our case. What can you do? Share this with your friends, call Democrat Senators, call their donors, insist the media cover their disgraceful behavior, and pray we can find 7 more Democrats with some level of humanity.

The nature of most senators is to care most of all about their status within the elite club that is the Senate. Whenever anyone comes along who knows what’s at stake, and doesn’t care about their status within club, it’s baffling to them. This is meant to be a hit on @BasedMikeLee, but it reveals more about the senators commenting than the subject of the article. To normal Americans, this makes Sen. Lee look even more heroic. The actual adult in an institution of people lacking maturity. The subject of the article wants to Save America. The anonymous commenters are too busy with Sorority house politics.

@mkratsios47 @WhiteHouse @POTUS Thank you for your well considered plan and your language about frivolous lawsuits and expanded liability, which are harms that drive up costs, stifle innovation, and crush free enterprise. Congress needs the President’s leadership to get this right.

Today, the @WhiteHouse released a commonsense National AI Policy Framework that ensures every American benefits from AI. As @POTUS has said — we need one federal AI policy, not a 50 state patchwork. This gets us there. Eager to work with Congress on this important legislation.

I heard Chuck Schumer say, “Our objection as Democrats is not to photo ID.” So I gave Senate Democrats a chance to prove it—by bringing a simple voter ID requirement bill to the floor. They blocked it. foxnews.com/politics/gop-s…

So, Pete Hegseth is coming under attack for his Christian rhetoric. Pope Leo XIV condemned invoking God “in choices of death.” Hasn’t the Pope read the Old Testament? And aren’t the Iranians driven by Religion in everything they do?

Why would you withhold the paychecks of @fema employees that need to help the people of your State recover from the massive storms? How about @USCG? @SecretService? @BPUnion? Stop playing games and pay all 260,000 employees and give up YOUR paycheck until that happens. LFG!
Brian Schatz@brianschatz

Today there is a roll call vote on paying TSA workers. No tricks, no other issues. Up or down. Pay them or not. I’m a yes. And because no other issues are covered in the legislative text, it is not very easy to explain voting no, other than using big words about unrelated stuff.

@DavidSacks Thank you for making note of frivolous lawsuits and liability expansions— these things crush innovation and free enterprise. Many conservatives in Congress are not attuned to these threats, and the administration’s leadership is critical.

In December, President Trump signed an Executive Order tasking us with the development of a national framework for AI, what he called “One Rulebook.” This was in response to a growing patchwork of 50 different state regulatory regimes that threaten to stifle innovation and jeopardize America’s lead in the AI race. Today we are releasing that framework. It will help parents safeguard their children from online harm, shield communities from higher electric bills, protect our First Amendment rights from AI censorship, and ensure that all Americans benefit from this transformative technology. We look forward to working with our colleagues in Congress to turn the principles we are announcing today into legislation. whitehouse.gov/articles/2026/…
