Wes, the Dadliest Catch
@cynlioness So your contention is that women shouldn't look as good as they can, because that will get them into shallow partnerships?? Do you think naturally pretty women should be trying to look uglier??? Crazy talk. Looking better is helpful for everyone

This latest aria article on getting sexier is driving me up a wall. She's defecting. It bothers me so much when dating advice for men is well thought out, well rounded, backed with good data. And all women get is "lose weight and get a boob job"

I've been bemoaning the lack of artistic community around TPOT for years. Im gonna finally do sth about it!! An artist's club/art unschool for creative people who want to be creating more small cohorts, closed container lots of co-arting calls 1:1 creative coaching a ton of

Almost 2 years ago, I was riffing with a friend on what it would take to turn Boulder CO into a schelling point, and what it might look like after that happened. Then an internet microcelebrity moved to Boulder CO and started doing things. You can help make things happen
Vivid Void@vividvoid

Friends, I'm opening a spiritual center in Boulder! It's called Nameless Mountain, and it's focused on spiritual maturity rather than enlightenment. We're trying to raise $50,000 to cover this year's expenses. Please help build this with us by donating or becoming a member: givebutter.com/nameless-mount…

back when I was a yappy, annoying 22-year-old, my boss and mentor walked over to my desk, plopped down a giant cd case full of self help books, and said “get to listenin.” i can still hear the heavy thump of the case, and feel the way the fabric of it strained under the sheer mass of volumes inside. my boss was this ethereal irish man with kind eyes and a sharp wit, the kind of dude who can get away with saying anything because he’s just such a cherub of a human being you can’t get too mad at him…. and I was absolutely irritating the sht out of him at the time, i’m sure, with all my whining about the dating scene in new york and blah blah blah. it was just me and him working there at the time, he was a freelancer who needed assistance, and there i was fresh out of college, raring to go… and in the throes of my first dating season as a single woman. annoying as i probably was, i was quite good at what he’d hired me to do (video editing), and he genuinely took me under his wing. he taught me how to, at the very least, appear professional (lol) and in the process, helped shape me into a more grounded woman. he was the first professional father figure in my life. i took all of the cds and ripped them onto my computer in the background while i did other work, and then loaded them up onto my ipod touch. i walked around new york on my lunch breaks listening to caroline myss and deepak chopra and thich nhat hanh. i learned why you shouldn’t sweat the small stuff (it’s all small stuff) and the power of NOW. i suppose you could say i was one-shotted by a cd case. i had never in my life encountered this kind of material, except perhaps in bits and pieces on daytime tv like oprah. but it was truly my first foray into any sort of introspection. at the same time, i was being trained as a professional, and trusted to take on high end clients (eventually) and film important events for him. the first time i shot a wedding with him i was supposed to just be there as an assitant, but his second camera guy called out sick, and so he handed me the camera and said “don’t tell anyone how old you are or that this is your first time, just fly under the radar, get the shots, you got this.” this is all in retrospect of course, but i think the combination of being introduced to that kind of personal work paired with being trusted at a very high level to help run a business fundamentally changed me. i certainly came in with raw talent and ambition (i mean, i interviewed with him on a thursday, graduated friday, and started working on monday, i was not fcking around, nor had i merely coasted through college, but that’s another story) but he was the perfect person to hone me into a sharper instrument. when he handed me those cds i took it as “he thinks i’m annoying,” and again, perhaps he did… but more than that, he believed in me before i fully believed in myself. i am forever grateful for his presence in my life, and i have spent the nearly 20 years since trying to pay it forward however i can.

i don’t think i have ever enjoyed anyone’s crowd work as much as jeff arcuri’s. occasionally, i come across some comic doing crowd work and its a really funny clip, but inevitably when i go to their page to see more, it’s a lot of duds. there’s a subtle art to being able to do it well, consistently. i think one of the key things that jeff brings to the table is this jovial curiosity. he seems genuinely delighted by any contribution from his audiences. some comics relate to the audience as an impediment or as the butt of the joke, but jeff relates to them as his partners. he brings a level of relatedness that i find is rare among standups. it’s no wonder his whole tour this year is sold out.

You can vibrate a crystal and get it to *selectively bend light*. By stacking input acoustic frequencies, you can bend multiple wavelengths simultaneously.

I'm hiring! ExoPriors will be, is, and was an epistemic infra leviathan, working with the most beautiful primitives of cognitive work and full-stack reality metabolization, broadly empowering the ecology to keep the world interesting, compassionate, and multipolar. We are: - making the internet publicly SQL queryable, - building atomic cognitive work infrastructure for steering ecologies of agents productively to incrementally address the most critical problems - e.g. creating emergent Kaggle for matchmaking people by doing incremental privacy-respecting cognitive work over their private data I'm paying $1k/day for work trials, then $15k/month and obviously will be paying $500k+/year when we get to next funding tranche. Open ofc to algorithmic savants but the real bottleneck I'm looking for is general purpose helper sidekicks that can be my prompting intermediary helping to keep about a half dozen agent chats open and knock out small maintenance tasks.

Always a fun day when you reach tier 3 customer service. Turns out BoA's backend Visa 3DS2 implementation is clunky, and Chase is actually just better at getting Euro transactions to go through.
