@brian_li @avax @JohnNahas84 @vohvohh @AvaLabs To be clear, I want Avalanche to do well. The vision is there but execution could be much better. We’re missing transparency from Avalabs. Separation of powers & management between FDN & Avalabs. It’s a shame nobody cares enough to address these things at @AvaLabs

@brian_li @avax @JohnNahas84 @vohvohh @AvaLabs Changes happen all the time, but people didn’t leave because things were going well. And these changes, have they been good for token holders or shareholders? The FDN is NOT independent, there is zero transparency on Avax sales / buying, and we can see what it has led to.

We are still bullish and deploying in the @avax ecosystem, responding with my perspective similar to @JohnNahas84 @vohvohh Poor Comms Valid, I think Avalanche is in a transition period where @AvaLabs ditched the KOLs and implementing a more organic strategy. This takes time but I would like to see Avalanche get more VCs involved. There is way more activity than being reported on X Misaligned incentives Disagree. Value accrues when apps build L1s something that @AvalancheFDN has emphasized. Shoutout @cryptoreine for helping out so many of our portcos align with @AvaLabs A lack of support for strong builders Disagree we’ve seen and backed a ton of great founders. There are several VCs that are still very bullish on Avalanche, shoutout @veritaim! Funding decisions towards questionable people The grants program is extremely difficult to navigate and can be improved Lack of transparency about key eco changes Valid point. There was a big shift from Gaming & DeFi to Enterprise. This goes hand in hand with comms Technical pivots misaligning capital incentives for builders and community leaders There needed to be some redirection in 2024/2025 that needed a transition phase, @frostLedger has done a phenomenal job on this Underperformance leading to a lack of VC interest Disagree, @brianman1 is never shy to send us deals! With the help of Brian, we looked at over 35 deals in the Avalanche ecosystem alone last year Lack of community alignment towards investments made by the ecosystem Depends on who you consider "community." For KOLs, yes, for $AVAX holders who have seen millions of stablecoin TVL onboard to Avalanche, disagree This is my personal opinion and we can agree to disagree. I thought it would be helpful to share my perspective on this, NFA DYOR

After reading this, it's quite obvious that the decisions made by @AvaLabs and @AvalancheFDN have led to a collapse of the ecosystem. - Poor comms leading to wasted technical resources - Misaligned incentives - A lack of support for strong builders - Funding decisions towards questionable people - Lack of transparency about key eco changes - Technical pivots misaligning capital incentives for builders and community leaders - Underperformance leading to a lack of VC/Seed interest - Lack of community alignment towards investments made by the ecosystem This looks quite bad and confirms most of what the community has been stating for months.

Van Eck ETF has made about a million $Avax purchase and we can already feel how strong $Avax holds in down markets and how strong $Avax jumps up in good days. When Avax One, Avat, Bitwise ETF and Grayscale ETF comes to the market and starts buying tens of millions of $Avax you can imagine what will happen.

The Corporate Lockup. Avalanche Treasury Co. just announced a $1 billion plan to lock up AVAX and give institutions direct, regulated exposure. TradFi is pulling tokens permanently off the open market. Don't miss the supply shock.

@DeltaPrimeDefi What I meant by being transparent: 1. How many Avax has Avalabs & FDN sold / bought and when? 2. Why did people leave the FDN and then got replaced with Avalabs personal? We can pretend these things never happened, but they did and the community deserves a proper honest response

@Funkmaster_anon Yes, this goes for any project turning off transparency the moment it's needed most. Can't find myself in this being Ava Labs (with regards to us they have always been very transparent), but censoring the slightest "FUD" is definitely not something new in this space.

Hot take: FUD does not exist. Projects that censor their users; turn off comments on difficult tweets and ban users who ask questions do not belong in web3. This is our commitment to never become that project. Also, if you do have critical questions for us. Join our AMAs! We've had several the past few weeks and will have several more in the weeks to come. We mean it, anything goes, you're invited🫡

How many Avax has Avalabs & the foundation sold and when? 2. How many have they bought and when? 3. Why not make the FDN independent?

Appreciate the concerns and feedback, keep it coming, and please keep holding us accountable. Addressing your points: Concern: Poor comms leading to wasted technical resources - Colony had more 1:1 support and communication with AL team than many on Avalanche. For 4+ years. We did our best to communicate as much as possible, and Colony in particular always had a direct line to the AL team. Concern: Misaligned incentives - Could you expand here? This doesn’t really make sense with regards to Colony Concern: A lack of support for strong builders - AL is very supportive of builders, offering more support, accelerators, workshops, funding, grants, marketing, etc than most chains. I’m actually surprised people think this, most chains don’t offer as much support as Avalanche. We are always trying to improve and find new and better ways to support builders. If there is something you’re not seeing that we can do to support further, let me know! Concern: Funding decisions towards questionable people - Unfortunately, not every single company will be successful, and every VC/fund has poor investments in retrospect. We are working on ensuring there is more transparency and accountability with grants moving forward. Concern: Lack of transparency about key eco changes - Information on ecosystem changes were and are communicated as they became available. I wish everything could be communicated to everyone immediately as it happens, but that’s not reality and there are many moving pieces. Concern: Technical pivots misaligning capital incentives for builders and community leaders - With regsrds to BTC.b, this was very public and had no impact on the BTC L1 Colony was helping incubate. The slow build out of the HyperSDK and pivot unfortunately put the DeFi project that Colony was building in a bad spot, and we apologize to all HyperSDK builders for the slow progress. Concern: Underperformance leading to a lack of VC/Seed interest - There is a lot of VC/Seed interest around Avalanche. An L1 just raised $20m from investors and web2 giants such as PayPal. We’re in a shitty market, and in general, funds are drying up or being more strategic and playing things safer. Concern: Lack of community alignment towards investments made by the ecosystem - Is this directly pertaining to Colony? This is a moot point considering the community has the freedom to independently choose which Colony (or nom-Colony) projects they wish to support or not, completely independent of AL. It always sucks to see a company close their doors. There are a million reasons that lead to these decisions, and there are duly a lot of ways to pivot and find new TAM. We always appreciate community feedback, it helps us grow, learn, and be better.

COLONY 🔺@Colonylab

After 5 years building and supporting the @avax ecosystem exclusively, today we are announcing the closure of Colony because the ecosystem evolved in ways that no longer allow us to pursue our mission with conviction. This was not an easy decision, especially after 5 years committing our full focus, resources, and energy to Avalanche, its projects, its vision, and its community across multiple market cycles. But it is time to close this chapter. Before stepping away, we believe it is important to be transparent about our experience operating within the Avalanche ecosystem over the past several years. The full statement, including how the building environment changed materially, the structural challenges we faced, everything we built and delivered during that time, and the wind-down process and timeline, is in the article below: @Colonylab/the-end-of-the-road-ef0af614a47d" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">medium.com/@Colonylab/the… As part of the wind-down: • Liquidity remains untouched • Community funds remain accessible • The team’s CLY token allocation was never sold nor staked – 5 years community alignment • Final distributions will be made to CLY stakers

I’ll be the first to say it, Avalanche is not perfect. I won’t going to go over the reasons. the community will happily tell you. I’ll happily tell you. The hard part: fixing it. What i think about almost all day. Focus on what i CAN control to help the ecosystem grow. Solve with ACTION. And we have a lot of it coming this year. Things that we hope will fix many of these problems. and when new problems arise, repeat. The truth is people will always find something to be upset about. Don’t think a “perfect” strategy exists anyway. So being able to handle and accept criticism is an extremely important part of the job. Thats okay. You dont want anyone in power who cant handle critique. Just or not. Back to action. Next week will be a great start to the year. Lotta action incoming. Will it solve every problem? Hell no. Will it set a foundation for success? Absolutely. Again, Solve problems with action. The cool thing is there are dozen of people just like me in Avalanche, all working in parallel putting energy into solving some of the hardest problems in crypto. And @vohvohh we can blame all our mistakes on. Great system. I don’t expect sentiment to be perfect overnight. In fact I expect fud and complaining throughout it all. That truly doesn’t matter to me. What matters is building the underlying fundamentals that cannot be ignored. Building an ecosystem is an extremely hard problem. A problem which few make an attempt with, but trust me… we have many strong forces on this chain that will be fighting for you all. Here is to many “big weeks” in 2026🔺

So we were just exit liquidity for these guys the whole time? Quite disappointed in the lack of follow through of the core team. When I invested in $AVAX back then I felt this team was different, now Kevin has dropped the project to build sci-fi batteries, Luigi will enjoy his life in Portofino and Emin hasn't been seen in months... What is happening ? You guys pitched a life changing blockchain technology. I don't think the job is done. What does this signal to investors ?

Some personal news* - After nearly 5 years, I’ve made the decision to step down from my role as Chief Strategy Officer of @AvaLabs. This comes after a lengthy period of conversations and reflection. Officially, and for the past several months, I’ve been transitioning out of my responsibilities and preparing for a new chapter. Since joining in early 2021, just months after Avalanche's mainnet launch, when our team was a lean group of ~20 people, @avax has been my home, my passion, and a defining part of my career. We've delivered countless upgrades, scaled a network attracting billions in capital across more than 80 chains, brought major banks, asset managers, and enterprises onchain, powered gaming ecosystems, and fostered a vibrant community. I'm proud of what we've built together and the role I was able to play in it. I will forever be grateful to all the people at Ava Labs and the broader Avalanche ecosystem but in particular @el33th4xor, @John1wu, @kevinsekniqi and @JohnNahas84 for the opportunities to grow both personally and professionally. It's a rare privilege to contribute to such a talented team driven by an ambitious mission. As for Avalanche, I remain a believer in the technology, the opportunity, and many of my colleagues. I’ll continue observing, building, advising where valuable, and supporting from the sidelines. I plan to complete my non-operating term as one of the Board Directors for the Avalanche Foundation, which concludes in a few months. As for what’s next, for now I'm pausing to recharge. I’ll be catching up on precious family time (including with our third child, now six months old) and investing in myself a bit. I have and will continue having conversations about where I’m best positioned to contribute to this industry, perhaps as a founder or in another role. I remain as optimistic as ever that blockchains will transform the internet and I intend to contribute my energy towards that future. Stay tuned! -Luigi

There has been so many ugly accusations recently about AvaLabs employees doing insider trading, I think there needs to be a Code of Conduct if there isn’t one already for AvaLabs employees. And that code of conduct ofc should prohibit any insider trading however this doesn’t mean that the team should be excluded joining any project as investor. For example I like the fact that many team members are Arena Champions, and I am sure they got their tokens just like any other investor. Code of conduct should draw a fine line what is allowed and what is not and how these things should be transparently communicated.
