@SchubertCalc @ded_ruckus Not in the vast majority of DEVELOPED countries - which the EU should be part of. But their 20% AC rate is far beyond places like japan, china, korea and others. It's a choice they made and they refuse to accept responsibility - instead they blame us for having AC

@ded_ruckus Sure but I'm guessing you're American (as am I) and are not aware that in the vast majority of other countries, AC is quite rare. Including Europe

@SadGurl2K16 They think their humidity makes it worse, while 43 states have worse humidity than england does. Basically, they'll use any angle to complain, and then when call on it, complain about people pointing out that they're wrong.

Actually baffled by this discourse, why do Brits think it doesn’t get dangerously hot in the states?? We are very aware of the dangers of heat — people die every year because of extreme heat in the US.

@ChevaughnFB Only 7 of 50 states have LESS humidity than the UK. They just want to complain.

Americans really do have a nerve to be insisting we’re all assholes for not adopting energy intensive cooling systems while we’re in the middle of a global energy crisis that they caused

@CyborgPeds I always love the put downs that "you yanks don't have public transportation" or "too car-centric" from people whose countries are smaller than many US states. Same with passports: I can drive thousands of miles to completely different environments and never leave my country.

@NodrogSame39425 @KaralynnSummer "Good for you...now fuck off and let us moan about the weather without interruption - like we've been doing for all of time." but I thought this was new and caused by climate change?

@RoaringHammy I wouldn't trust a new home unless it was custom built by a respected builder. New construction is hit or miss. Anything from the 80's to 90's is good - after Asbestos and before the Bubble crapfest.

Are you okay with purchasing an "used" home? I have friends that would only buy/live in brand new homes. Is this insane?

@IamR0galD0rn I thought those Ukers paid all that money so they could have clean renewable energy - but they don't want to use that clean, renewable energy for some reason.

@CanineDeGuh Ours are designed to hold in heat and cool air. Which design sounds stupid - once that can do both, or one that makes your lives miserable when it gets hot?

@KittyKale0 because people in england tell us we can't understand how bad it is because you have humidity - which is even higher in most of the US.

Why are so many people pressed over this 😢 if you haven’t been in the uk during 30° c then you can’t possibly know what it’s like since you haven’t experienced it it’s not an opinion it’s a literal fact

and why do people outside of the UK feel they have the right to comment on a UK heatwave as if they have any experience??

@PierreJouet @Real_Dystopia Euros always manage to shift the goalposts when a simple solution is offered. You can literally get portable air conditioners that only need a flexible house output to a small section of a window. And you can take it with you if you move for years and decades to come.

@Real_Dystopia The government might worry about the power grid. No normal person thinks bout that when they’re buying an electrical item.

Americans: “Hey Britain, why won’t you invest £200 in an AC unit?” Britain: “Because, unlike American houses, our houses aren’t made of tissue paper and spit, and fitting AC requires expensive renovations.”
