DRDO Futuristic Technology Management

DRDO Industry Academia Centres of Excellence (DIA-CoE) are enabling the defence R&D as per DRDO’s Long Term Directed Research Policy. Each centre has identified verticals under which research problems are identified and then monitored for the progress.

#IITHyderabad embarks on a project to develop 100 kg premium metal powder manufacturing facility for Additive Manufacturing & Aerospace. This will be India's largest indigenous clean metal/alloy powder manufacturing unit through gas atomisation. The institute collaborates with DMRL @DRDO_India and industry (Innomet Advanced Materials Ltd.) in this project for manufacturing powder. This initiative is funded by DFTM @FutureTechDRDO.

A seminar on “Current Conflicts & Beyond: Technology Transformation & Future of Wars” was organised by DRDO and Center for Land Warfare Studies (CLAWS) at DRDO Bhawan today to commemorate the first anniversary of Operation Sindoor. The seminar was inaugurated with special video message of Gen Anil Chauhan, CDS emphasising joint war fighting capabilities, tri-services integration and the centrality of technology in shaping India’s security posture. The event was started with welcome by Dr Ranjana Nallamalli, Director DFTM, DRDO and setting the tone by Lt Gen Dushyant Singh, DG CLAWS Dr U K Singh, DG(SSS), DRDO delivered the inaugural address followed by Dr Prateek Kishore, DG (ACE), DRDO sharing the technological perspectives of future and emerging defence requirements. Air Marshal Awadhesh Kumar Bharti, DCAS, presented "Technological Takeaways from Operation Sindoor," offering a definitive assessment of how precision-guided munitions, real-time surveillance, and network-centric warfare assets shaped the operational outcomes of the mission and the enduring lessons they carry for force modernisation. A special session on Technological Takeaways were organised which was chaired by Lt Gen Vipul Shinghai, DCOAS (IS&T) in which Air Marshal Awadhesh Kumar Bharti, (DCAS), Lt Gen Rahul R singh, DCOAS (CD&S) , Vice Admiral S N Ghormade, Former VCNS & Dr Prateek Kishore, DG(ACE) shared their insights.

A one-day hands-on training program on simulation software for chemical engineering problems and Ray & Wave optics applications was conducted on 7 May'26 by DIA-CoE @HydUniv @DRDO_India. The training was attended by students, faculty members from @HydUniv and start-ups.

An interactive session on “System Dynamics and Control Engineering” along with Governing Council meeting was organised by DIA-CoE @iitbombay @DRDO_India. The session was attended by DRDO scientists & faculty members from IIT Bombay in presence of Secretary DDR&D and Chairman DRDO

A National Facility for Compo-Rheo Die Casting (CRDC) was inaugurated by Secretary DDR&D and Chairman DRDO in the presence of Prof Govindan Rangarajan, Director @iiscbangalore on 11 April 2026 at IISc Bengaluru campus. The event also marked the formal handover of project deliverables matured under the joint research projects of DIA-RCoE and IISc Bengaluru. The occasion highlighted the strong collaborative framework of DIA-CoE between DRDO and IISc, in fostering innovation and accelerating technology translation, being coordinated by @FutureTechDRDO under the Technology Management Cluster.

A workshop on “Space Systems for Defence Applications” was organised by DIA-CoE @IITHyderabad @DRDO_India. The workshop highlighted the emerging architectures, deployment, and relevance of orbital assets in enhancing national security capabilities.

Dr. Samir V Kamat, Secretary DD(R&D) and Chairman DRDO, today inaugurated 12th DRDO Young Scientists Meet-2026 (YSM-2026) at Hyderabad in the presence of DG(MSS), DG(HR), Director ASL and Director DHRD. Each year DRDO organises YSM with the aim of building technical cohesion among young scientists. The event is being organised by DHRD DRDO HQ in collaboration with ASL Hyderabad during 30 March-01 April 2026. The theme of the event is “Together We Grow”. Over 200 young scientists from various DRDO Labs/Estts are participating in this three days event lined up with various interesting technical, motivational and team building sessions.
