Reminder for women: if you're on a date with a man who thinks he has bought sex by picking up the check, remind him that the going rate for dinner and an evening with a sex worker is $300+ an hour, since he's being so transactional about it.

This would be a great way to passive-aggressively complain about a wedding you weren't invited to.

@jaycaspiankang James Harden I wouldn't want because he's specifically thought of as a choker..I think it's a more interesting question for someone like Chris Paul who never won but wasn't really seen as being at fault for it.

I really want to know when the manosphere will stop endlessly posting a chart that is twenty years old from a website from the very early days of online dating and where women were incentivized to be mean to men and rate them lower, because if you did not, they were notified by OkCupid and could message you, clogging up your inbox. This doesn't prove anything other than way too many people are basing their opinions of humanity on how one website worked two decades ago because it confirms their pessimistic depression and resentment of women.
swanky@swanky_moves

@mike_slugs Ok now tell it to average ass women. I’ve never seen not even a shred of evidence that average men will only date hot women. Go ahead show us the data, men are perfectly fine marrying the most statistically average woman The average man is tragic for a woman that’s the issue

@ElxMapping Democrats did much better with latinos in 2018 than even 2025. The "swinging back" we are seeing might get us to 2020 numbers but a lot of ground has been lost

I think people forget just how close the 2018 Texas Senate race was, and Talarico is consistently outpolling Beto. Paxton is also a way weaker candidate than Cruz was — impeached, indicted, the whole mess. Add Latinos swinging back to Dems, and if you still think Texas is impossible to flip, especially in this environment, you gotta adjust your priors.

Oh, I have some cool stories about how awful some of the US Presidents and high level politicians were on a personal level (we don't need to beat a dead horse, aka Andrew Johnson, anymore): Grover Cleveland: stalked a widow and raped her. When she began pregnant, he used his political power to have her committed to an insane asylum, forcefully stripped of custody of the child, and then had a friend adopt his son. Later, groomed his 11-year-old step daughter after her mother died, and married her in the White House when she turned 21. Warren G. Harding: notorious adulterer, he began pursuing one of his affair partners when she was just a teenager and he was 30+ years older than her. He had a bastard with her and had Secret Service guard the door while he fucked her in a coat closet in the White House. When she published her memoir, his whole family smeared her as a degenerate liar. He was simultaneously having an affair with another woman that also blackmailed the Republican party, who paid her a massive shut up sum to keep the affair quiet. Andrew Jackson: completely unhinged, he was an actual murderer, killing a man over a horse racing bet. He engaged in over 100 duels, and was notoriously cruel to his slaves. He offered an extra reward to anyone that caught his slaves if they first lashed the slave 100 times. Aaron Burr: Sure, whatever, he shot and killed Hamilton, but post-duel, he basically became a full-time sociopath. Immediately afterwards, he raised a private militia and attempted to conquer Western parts of the US and Spanish territories and crown himself emperor of a new nation. Not content to fade into old age, around 80 he married the richest woman in America and then secretly began selling off all her assets to prop up his failing land speculation schemes. Ted Kennedy: In 1969, he left a party with a campaign strategist in his car and accidentally drove it off a bridge into a pond. He left her trapped alive in the upside down car and calmly walked back to his hotel and went to bed. She suffocated and could have lived if he called the police. He used his family's wealth to escape any serious consequences. And we need not mention his father forcibly lobotomizing his sister, Rosemary. Rep. Robert Potter (NC): probably not well-known, but he's likely one of the most unhinged people to ever hold federal office, so I like to talk about him at parties for fun. Elected in 1828, he was shortly consumed by a paranoid delusion that his wife was cheating on him. He then cornered two of her male relatives, a minister in his 50s and a teenage boy, and castrated both with a knife. Completely remorseless, he mounted his legal defense by weaponizing a general distrust of the "wealthy elite," and saying his victims were "corrupt aristocrats." He served less than two years in jail, and was immediately re-elected to the North Carolina legislature. He didn't hold that office for long, getting expelled after pulling a gun and a bowie knife during a card game and accusing someone else of cheating.

This is one of the common female icks I don't completely understand. Like, what is going on here? Do the women who have this opinion hate playing video games themselves? Have they tried them or not? Are we talking about a guy that occasionally plays Stardew when he has free time or a man that pisses in a bottle every night while yelling at people over Twitch for hours? I just assume that everyone my age has played video games and enjoys at least some variety.
Lizzie Marbach@LizzieMarbach

I know this is unpopular, but it will always be unattractive for a grown man to play video games. Some women might be understanding or pretend like they don’t care that you spend hours playing, but they do. It is extremely unattractive to women and will never not be. 🤷🏼‍♀️

@estherzelda0514 @FRXianHumanist Yeah I have conversely had to advise female friends about why listing out all of their dating requirements in their profile made them seem unappealing to even those men who might fit them. There are things that you might feel that you don't say

I didn't believe my friends that 90% of men on dating apps from age 25 to 45 are trash, so I went through her queue with her over coffee yesterday morning. Nearly every single profile had at least one red flag that was impossible to overlook: blatantly lying about age or height, "not political," unemployed, "figuring out my dating goals," alcoholic, "no fatties," weird sexist admissions, etc. Mind you, this wasn't even getting to their looks or picture quality, and these red flags are what these men are comfortable revealing on their public profiles, so they must be so much worse in person.

I thought it was very weird. Also weird: the idea that a top flight engineer who made all sorts of important stuff for NASA lived with his mom and thought he was too poor to have a kid, even though his wife was a high ranking pharmaceutical executive. Also, Leonard’s marriage to Penny made no sense. He totally should have hooked up with Alex or the hot comic book artist.
Timeless Praise™🤴@First_alphas

Nobody thought it was weird in the big bang theory that Penny; a waitress, was able to afford rent in a building where two physicists with PHDs were roommates just to split rent?

I am sourcing a husband for a close friend of mine. She’s: - Palo Alto (formerly) - Stanford dropout - High IQ (lost >=$900M of other people’s money) - Family oriented (currently has two children she conceived before sentencing) - 39 + wants marriage/kids within 36 months of release - Gorgeous blonde with tiny black turtleneck and aristocratic baritone - Perverted, but in a disruptive healthcare way Who’s on the market?

Holy toldeo! The liberal for WI Supreme Court exceeded Harris 2024 by 21 points. Largest liberal win in an open seat in 30+ years. GA-14, the Dem, exceeded Harris by 25 pts. Largest Dem special overperformance since AL 2017 Sen. All suggests an easy Dem win in the House.

Two things from the Group Chat With The Boys: 1. They are paying attention to this, even the ones who either don't usually pay attention or don't talk politics in the group chat. 2. My friend group is Clinton-Trump-Trump or Clinton-Biden-Trump majority, with a minority of straight D and straight Trump voters mixed in. Pretty much everyone is down on him hard.

@QuantusInsights I mean this is basically inherent in being in an incumbent. If you are already in office during your party's wave cycle then you got elected to your seat in a less favorable environment so you aren't going to lose in a favorable wave.

House incumbent defeats are usually wave-driven and highly asymmetric. In 2010, 54 Democratic incumbents lost and just 4 Republicans did. In 2018, the reverse: 32 Republicans lost and only 2 Democrats did. 2022 was much more balanced at 12 Democrats and 13 Republicans. When waves hit, they usually hit one party’s incumbents hard.
