The DOJ agreed to launch the “Anti-Weaponization Fund” as part of a settlement after President Trump and his sons sued the IRS for $10 billion over alleged political targeting, misconduct, and abuse of power.
Trump agreed to drop the lawsuit. The DOJ agreed to issue a formal apology. Trump and his sons cannot receive money from the fund.
Supporters say it’s long-overdue. Critics say taxpayers could end up funding it with unclear standards.
The bigger question: Should the federal government compensate people who claim they were politically targeted — and who gets to decide where that line is?

I have some Muslim friends. I have done business with a lot more. I have lots of Muslim aquaintences that I enjoy seeing throughout my week. They're nice people. I follow some of them on social media. Some like Trump some don't.
But what I never, ever hear from any of them is condemnation of what we call "radical Islam".

It’s understandable why liberals are more pessimistic right now since they’re out of power.
Still, it’s grim that the vast majority on both sides foresee a negative U.S. future over the next 50 years.
The top liberal concerns are climate change, inequality, weaker economy, political divisions.
Conservatives see threats in immigration, national debt, cultural decline, political dysfunction.
Deepening polarization is a shared concern.
Some feel more legit than others, but I can’t help thinking we’re trapped in a dooming cycle where we struggle to see the positives.
