@CoachTatum90 Sure, we replaced IZ with DOU to mirror our GT and GH counter scheme. We are using DUO for a base play for read, bam, insert, and RPOs, as well as PS and oppo back alignments. Then grouping our OZ and Fly blocking schemes. So, it’s basicallytwo blocking schemes.

DEEP SHUFFLE DRILLS. NOTE THERE IS NO PIERCING OR VACATING THE LOS IMMEDIATELY ON AN ANGLE TO THEIR OS. THESE ARE MID ZONE TECHS.

@coachkou I love this wrinkle. We used to run a lot of IZ insert. Now that we are adopting Duo, this allows some nice continuity of scheme.

Duo insert is something we are seeing more of. Mcvay in the NFL, Fisch (below) and others.

The measure of OL Splits are something that are as unique as the OL Coach himself! Normal - Whatever you like (3-3 1/2 FT for me) Tight - Foot to Foot (GL/Short) Wide - 4-5+ FT (Cover the Hash) Varied - Guards & Tackles at different splits Smart - Close or wide based on the play.

@CoachTatum90 @kdawgswift Eliminating the tush push in HS football, at least in Oregon, has been one of the saddest rule changes ever. We still run Snead, but it’s just not as fun!!

Truly saddened that our gymnasium roof has collapsed due to the heavy snowfall in Southern Oregon. All of our remaining 5 homes games, have been moved to Oakdale Middle School. @PrepHoopsOR

1. No they aren’t the same play: Although they are dive plays that involve the OL hitting block the same direction… DUO Right= Everyone down (GAP) blocks LEFT Rb aims at the RIGHT A gap RB either runs straight or bends it to the RIGHT B/C/D gaps Inside Zone Left = Everyone ZONE blocks LEFT Rb aims at either the LG or C UNLIKE Duo Right the ball can hit in the LEFT A (or possibly B gap depending how you coach it) … and if the OL doesn’t win their combo blocks the RB will JUMP CUT to the backside A, B, C, or D gap depending on how well we can maul the defensive line 2. Duo is a GAP scheme 3. It doesn’t matter for hs fb purposes. Pick one and run a gazillion variations/RPOs off of it like the rest of America … IME I actually prefer DUO as the playside zone gaps aren’t as easy to guarantee vs better teams … whereas just washing everything down is a more conducive blocking angle for lesser talent JMO

SERIOUS 🏈 QUESTIONS: 1- Are DUO and Inside Zone essentially the same thing? 2- Is DUO a GAP or ZONE scheme? 🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨📣📣📣📣 While this may strike up a debate… Does it really matter either way …? COME ON SOMEBODY!

@CoachLamb1 @DanBlackbourn Yep. 💯. We ran counter against everything, run it weak unprotected/protected, run it steong with H motion back, throw in a couple doses of OZ or short H/Y fly weak and then more counter. Chop the back, oppo the back. Just get so good at running gap against any front and look.

@CoachSCDub We have been talking about adding some Duo to our zone/counter offense. We don’t always have a TE type kid. What about making it part of Tight bunch package? I think that’s implied in this clip.

@Coach_GAdams We do some forward and shoulder rolls in our high school contact prep and it is certainly the case that it’s difficult for many. Never really focused on correcting it or repping it more. I like what you are doing!

Few weeks ago we realized our kids couldn’t do basic tumbling so we’ve been mixing it into our speed days. Sometimes we set the parameters this rep they chose. The only rule was there had to be 1 Jump, 1 Spin, and 1 Tumble. Not going to the Olympics anytime soon but it’s better.
